Nice campground with large spaces., a firepit and a picknick table. We were there during the weekend so the campground was full. There were a lot of people with loud music making a lot of noise, so we did Not sleep well.
Camped here the 1st night of RVing in Alaska. We loved our stay. Loved it so much we stayed on our last night before returning the RV. It’s right on Seward Hwy so there is some traffic noise but it didn’t bother us. It’s also on the Turnagain Arm which is so cool. There are no hookups. There is a walking path that we really enjoyed.
We flew into Anchorage, rented a motor home, and stayed at the Bird Creek campground our first night. Having gone thru the RV orientation and stocked up on supplies, we found it an easy drive from Anchorage. The campground roads were filled with potholes, so go slow. It is located along the Seward Highway, so you will hear traffic noise into the night. We stayed during the shoulder season so the campground did not have a water source. The bathrooms were open and well kept.
Pros: cabin in wooded area, fire pit, cabin has a nice design, priced fairly, sleeps 12, and is located near a plethora of attractions south of Anchorage. Cons: no running water on site; must buy a propane tank for the heater; human waste and filthy toilet paper was found behind the cabin; only port-a-Johns onsite--no bathrooms, nor showers anywhere in campground
My wife and spent a night and sat at this great overview. Loved sitting above Turnagain Arm watching the tides come and go while reading and relaxing... our smores over the campfire never tasted better as we relaxed and enjoyed the evening.
