The only private island, adults only resort in the Cook Islands. It is the only Cook Islands resort to offer that invention of incurable romantics - the Overwater Bungalow. And it is the only resort on Aitutaki with a truly Polynesian flavour, so you can truly savour what the South Pacific is famous for.

I booked this accommodation for a very special occasion and it proved to be an excellent choice. This resort is one of the two resorts that has a dedicated waiting area in the (small) airport where you can wait for your luggage when arriving / your flight when leaving. The check

Kia Orana, Thank you for your review on your recent stay at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort. I am delighted that you choose our adults only private island resort for your very special occasion and you found it to be an excellent choice. Our friendly driver meets all our arriving guests and presents them with ei and a refreshing drinking coconut. After a very short drive and even shorter ferry ride you arrive at reception where you are greeted with a very personalized and friendly welcome. As mentioned the views from the overwater bungalows of our stunning lagoon are simply magnificent and with their own swim up platform it makes it very convenient for entering and leaving the pristine waters. All our bungalows have wonderful views of the lagoon and all are just a very short stroll to the water’s edge. I am pleased the staff were able to assist with organizing your tours. It is a common practice for a supplementary charge be applied on public holidays and notices advising of this service fee are posted accordingly. Many guests take the bicycles for a ride into town and we encourage them to also take the complementary snorkelling equipment and explore many of the beautiful marine locations around Aitutaki. I am delighted that you liked the food and in our nightly news letter guests are advised of the dining times and location options within the resort. This information is also available in our comprehensive compendium and in room menus. Chef has recently introduced a new daily changing dinner menu incorporating many international favourites as well as a wider range of local ingredients and it has been very well received by our guests and visitors. Thank you again for choosing our “Island Paradise for your very special occasion. Kia Manuia, Mark, Sue and the Team

As most reviews have mentioned, the whole hotel is a little tired. Having read reviews prior to coming however, we found Aitutaki lagoon resort and spa perfect for our holiday. Our room was lovely, the outdoor shower was a really nice feature and the bed was excellent.

Bitterly disappointed is the only way to describe it really. I have never written such a poor feedback form. In fact I didn't leave it at the hotel as I was so sure the reception staff would have binned it. So I shall be posting it this week. This was part of an AirNZ 2 stop

Kia Orana, Thank you for your review. I am delighted to read you found the view from your private overwater bungalow at our adults only private island resort simply stunning. All our bungalows have magnificent views of the pristine water of our magical lagoon. I am pleased your meet and greet at the airport was very nice and you found the small ferry ride to the resort quite novel. Sue and I take great pleasure in welcoming all our guests to the resort and in our address we advise our guests that if we can be of assistance please don’t hesitate to request our help. We are currently undertaking a progressive and comprehensive upgrade of our property which includes the rethatching of the bungalows, interior design, landscaping of our grounds and gardens replacing the swim up platforms at the overwater bungalows and upgrading our facilities. Chef has recently introduced a new daily changing menu incorporating international favourites as well as a wider range of fresh local ingredients and it has been well received by our guests and visitors. I did contact you a number of occasions regarding the construction work and as mentioned offered a bungalow change but you declined my offer. We did however request the workers to reduce the noise as much as possible so as you could enjoy your time at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort. I am delighted you enjoyed your complementary dinner on our grill night in the Bounty Restaurant and with our accounting procedure we do request guests to sign for the meal but it is posted to managements account. Unfortunately, inclement weather has prolonged the construction of our Kuriri Point B.B.Q. and Beach Bar but it will soon offer lunches from midday to 2.00pm and a full selection of beverages including our famous “Island Girl and Island Boy” cocktails will be available until 5.00pm. I am pleased our friendly reception staff assisted with your purchases in our gift shop and you enjoyed strolling around our well maintained gardens and grounds. Our tropical buffet breakfast offers a variety of fresh local fruits, fruit juices, speciality breads, Danish pastries, croissants, sliced cold meat selection, sliced tomato and cheese, pancakes with maple syrup, boiled eggs, toast with spreads, coffee and teas and our refreshing drinking coconut. We ensure our breakfast experience is the same for everyone and by monitoring the buffet we can control the portions of all our fresh products. We have reduced the number of tables and chairs in the restaurant due to occupancy levels but we still maintain that the restaurant is set daily as we feel it would not look welcoming to our morning guests if only a portion is complete with settings. We do have a duty manger available from 7.00AM to 9.00PM that would have been more that happy to address your concerns and if you have any further issues you would like me to address please feel free to contact me directly. Kia Manuia, Mark, Sue and the Team

Do any of your room types have an indoor shower?
I don't think so. Bur really, you don't need one.

Aitutaki lagoon and spa have a shuttle bus. Just advise them where you are and they will pick you up. Or you can get a taxi

Kia Orana - the ferry is complimentary between 7 AM and 10 PM. A standard two or three course meal in the evenings in New Zealand dollars not including drinks would be between $30 and $40 per person. Please let us know if we can offer you any further assistance.
