Stayed 8 nights and it was not long enough. Mark is a brilliant host with a wealth of information and daily help with bookings. The beach has great snorkeling and is right there! Wonderful to sit on the porch and watch the waves. Mark’s recommended lagoon trips were amazing with a huge variety of fish and birds. Swimming with large Giant Trevally and a monster Hump Headed Wrass ( called The Emperor) was awesome. Also saw Eagle Rays and a huge Moray Eel. Loved the lively singing at the Christian Church on Sunday. Zipping around on a scooter was easy transport. Thanks to Mark for enhancing our visit.

Kia Orana David and Mary, Thank you for your review. So glad you enjoyed your time with us. The scooter certainly wasn't a norton but you still had fun. The lagoon certainly is an amazing place. When you want to escape Vancover then you know where to come. Kia Manuia Mark

Thank you, Mark, for helping to make our stay at beautiful Amuri Sands just perfect. We had a 5 night stay, but how I wish we had decided to spend longer on beautiful Aitutaki at Amuri Sands. Nothing can compare to the serenity and beauty of this place. There are two self-contained units, located on their very own immaculate and private beach, studded by tall coconut palms, with stunning views across the Lagoon to the reef. It's just heaven on earth. The units are spotlessly clean, and have everything you need. Mark is the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble and he helped us on a daily basis, booking Lagoon trips, arranging for scooter hire, and very kindly taking us to the local shops when we first arrived. It really was a memorable stay and we will be back. Thank you so much Mark and see you again, next year we hope!

Kia Orana Carolinatravellover Thank you for your review. It was an absolute pleasure to have you stay with us. Most travellers wish that they had stayed longer here and shorter in Rarotonga, as long as those people prefer the relaxed atmosphere that Aitutaki has to offer. Hopefully see you next year. A big thank you to Mark at Amuri Sands for making out family holiday amazing. His 2 x units where perfect for our needs, clean and tidy with an outstanding view out over the lagoon. Mark was very helpful with advice about Aitutaki, booking tours for us, getting our scooters sorted. He went out of his way and nothing was a problem. We had the most relaxing time ever and are already planning our next trip. Thanks again Mark, we will be in touch about staying at Amuri Sands on our next trip.

We spent 5 lovely days at Amuri Sands. What a fantastic spot, the view is amazing! The units are cute and wonderfully clean and tidy. Mark is a fantastic host, he helped with scooter hire and gave great advice on tours and where to eat. This was super helpful as it was our first time to beautiful Aitutaki. The units are lovely, though I would say that the beds are perfect for people who enjoy a firm supportive mattress. Everything was great in the unit...Good cooking facilities, nice shower, good drinking water, table and chairs on the deck to enjoy the view... Perfect for a lovely break in paradise Thank you Mark for a lovely time at your beautiful spot on an amazing island Meitaki atupaka

We had a wonderful time at Amuri Sands during our world trip with 3 children. Mark is a great host, always available for questions, helpful and very sympathetic. Everything is uncomplicated. The cottages are great, equipped with everything you need and really big enough. The price is much cheaper than in the hotels nearby, but Mark has the same beach :-) The ocean is directly in front of the door, nobody in front of you and it is simply wonderful. We absolutely recommend staying there. It is worth every hour and every dollar. Thank you :-)

I had a wonderful time in Aitutaki. I only stayed for three nights but Mark helped me to make the most of it: He organised a bike for me, my diving session and a lagoon tour. Moreover, he gave recommendations about places to eat and other activities to do on the island. The unit and its surrounding is carfefully maintained. The unit itself is very clean, spacious and well equipped. Thank you again Mark for your help! I left Aitutaki with nothing but the best memories! Chantal

Mark, so sorry that this review was so late. We had the most amazing holiday at Amuri sands with our 3 kids: 9, 7 and 4. Great location for snorkeling. Swimming at high tide. If low tide, there was a deep channel to swim a couple of minutes walk away. The beach house was great. It was well kept and had everything we needed. We hired both rooms, and had our kids sleeping in the second room. The deck has an amazing view at sunset. At high/medium tide the snorkeling is amazing. We enjoyed watching the whales just outside the reef from the deck. Mark is so helpful. He picks you up and drops you off from/to the airport. He comes every morning to offer any assistance/bookings during your stay. The water he provides tastes amazing too! While there wevtecommend hiring a scooter. We also recommend using Byron at Matriki (they have accomodation too) for boat tours. We used Byron for a water taxi, and whale watching tour. He and his wife were really lovely and went over and beyond, including taking us searching for turtles and eagle rays in the lagoon. The lagoon is amazing, and as torquoise as the photos/postcards. Amazing place!

Kia Orana Karen and Ray So glad you enjoyed your trip to Aitutaki. The units work well for friends and family as the units are separate but joined by a roof and deck. The whales were very prevalent this year with many sightings from the units as they swam in front, outside the reef. Thanks for taking the time to submit a review and will see you again one day. All the best Kia Manuia Mark

I stayed here for 40 nights and LOVED it! This property is conveniently located midway between town and the airport. The flat itself is beautiful, super clean and very comfortable! Mark the owner comes down twice a day. Once in the morning to make sure you have fresh drinking water and again in the afternoon. A very gracious and helpful host. The flats are right on the beach with excellent snorkeling! The sunsets from this location are the best!

Amuri Sands is a lovely secluded private location which is comfortable and clean. Mark is a warm and welcoming and generous host who can help you to organise to do any other activity you want to do on the islands, like massages, scooter rentals, boat trips, whale watching or whatever you want to do! Mark provided plentiful rain water to drink, and the most delicious bananas I have ever eaten! There are two bungalows with an adjoining balcony and you are metres away from the lagoon. You can see the whale blows from the balcony as the humpback whales swim past and the water is the clearest aquamarine you will ever see! Thanks Mark for a wonderful stay and for being a great host!

Amuri Sands are two self-catering houses situated on the western side of Aitutaki. They are run by Mark who lives on the island. My wife and I stayed here during our visit to the South Pacific September 2018 and , although only a few days have passed since our return , it seems like a distant dream. The accommodation is one purpose built house split into two located just above the high water mark looking out over the lagoon and distant open sea. Inside is a bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and bed, all exceptionally clean and well maintained. The mosquito screens are excellent and we had no problem from the little buggers. Out of the rear is the balcony looking to the sea, to the front are steps up to the property with a handy outside shower for when you come back from snorkelling. Land from this side of the property is beautifully maintained as a flower garden, with coconut palms, gardenias, hibiscus, banana trees, bread fruit trees papaya etc, this leads to the road which circles the island. The sand down to the sea is regularly raked and in the morning whilst sat on the balcony watching the whales breaching you can see the new hermit crab trails as they went about their nocturnal meanders. One large crab in particular is very friendly. Mark collects you from the airport and helps you to find a few provisions until the main supermarket opens Aitutaki style. He will also help you rent bikes, sort day trips and give plentiful advice. One day we will return to Aitutaki and having toured the island many times over our 9 day break we would stay nowhere else. Forget the fancy boutique resorts and get real, this is about as real as it gets with comfort and style aplenty. Lay back, relax, have a snorkel, have a "nu" then rustle up a snack in the kitchen or go for a short walk to Puffys for fish and chips or the other way for a posh supper at Tamanu resort. Do it while you can, you won't regret it. Thanks Mark for looking after us, Ed and Dawn.

Kia Orana Edmund Thank you for the review - it was much appreciated that you took the time to explain your experiences here on Aitutaki. It is a long way from the UK and glad that you have had the island experience. On a personal note - it was a pleasure to meet yourself and Dawn and so glad that you enjoyed yourselves and that the mossies behaved themselves. I look forward to seeing you again one day either here or the UK. Regards Kia Manuia Mark
