Very nice staff, about as clean as can be expected for a hostel, festive atmosphere

...The staff and fellow hostellers were cool, friendly with a loose eclectic & carefree vibe. Unfortunately that also applies to the condition of the building, rooms, general cleanliness and the shower water temperature. I mean I get it. It’s cheap ($7- 6 bed dorm), so just pull up a worn beanbag chair & chill... but there are better much hostel...

At first glance, i thought that the place was pretty cool. It puts up a great front. But once I got to know the managers and their rules, I realized how fake they are. They advertise $9 rooms, but they're always full and you need to book far in advance for those rooms. Their attitude bugs me the most, and...

In our late 50's, we arrived at galileo after a red eye flight. Brian and Meredith have a hostel gold mine! Great safe, secure accommodation, lots of art work, atmosphere, and interesting people here, not to mention the very helpful staff, TYSON and his lovely lady friend, also the undercover special forces agent, IRON MAN, from west virginia! We always...

I am not a hostel kind of girl; not usually. After two nights at Galileo with the incredible family vibe, I was ready to set my bags down permanently and affix myself to this hostel. And I did, for an extra night. (I am already planning my return in a month also.) Galileo Hostel is different to the other hostels...

The staff at Galileo really makes you feel at home when you are traveling. They have an excellent bar, and the rooms are very hygienic and well cared-for. The Rugged Pineapple Bar was the most fun in the city. The first time I stayed there, the owner, a bartender, and I went out to a nearby casino for some fun....

I've stayed here twice and both times have been fantastic! Not really for the crowd that wants to get a lot of sleep, you will stay up way late having too much fun. I actually think its the owners strategic business plan to get you to sleep in and miss your bus and have to stay another night ( not...

This is one great place; great people, all kinds of amenities and especially kindness. I am old...comparatively speaking and yet I felt like I was one of the kids, 20 year olds that were staying there. Did not feel out of place at all. There were a few older people as well and they were also having a great time....

If you're not traveling on an endless budget, Galileo Hostel is a must-stay! The owners are motivated people in the late twenties, with plenty of spunk and personality to keep you happily entertained. They really went over the top with personalizing this hostel, which includes private rooms, dorms, several bathrooms, a funky (in the best way possible) bar they built...

This is the first time I have stayed at a hostel for many years, and I have forgotten how fun and interesting it can be. We stayed here the night we arrived and the night we left San Jose. The staff and the other guests were energetic and amusing and the ambiance was great. As previous reviews mention, it is...

“The room above the bar is also further from the street. if you're early to bed, early to rise, choose the rooms above reception. If you don't mind the bar noise until about 11pm, but you want to sleep later than 5:30am, choose a bed above the bar.”
