Really nice setting with pool and well equipped kitchen. Rooms are a bit tired. The staff here really let the place down. It felt like we were interrupting the receptionist's movie when we checked in one evening. Later that night at 3am I was woken by the night security guard and his mates talking loudly at reception. Had to go...

Generally San José is not the nicest town in the world. At least for me nothing special. We stood in San José just for transfer. Location from the hostel: Can't say much, just not too far from the main shopping street. Nearby are a lot of (dubios) bars. Heaps of young backpackers here. Easy too reach from the airport: Tuasa...

The public area is really great, nice pool and bar, friendly staff. The dorms downstairs were a little shabby but the beds were comfortable. The location is just around the corner of a bar street, so going out seems to be safe, since the hostel is that close :)

First time in a hostel and first Time in San José. The hostel staff is perfect. They were very Nice and helpful for directions. Perhaps, the hostel is not that perfect. Our window wasn't closing so we heard all the outside Sound. And there was only one bathroom... Which is not much for a hostel big like this.

Costa Rica backpackers hostel was the first hostel in Costa Rica that I stayed in. I must say that I didn't have any expectations to standards of the place and or its facilities at that time. It only took me one day to fully fall in love with the place and it's visitors. This hostel is located in the perfect...

Backpackers is a traditional hostel. Plenty of rooms, open/common areas, a pool, wifi, and other travel information...it's definitely not the cleanest place or most comfortable place I've stayed (the train that goes by is brutal), but if you need a bed for the night super cheap, there really isn't anywhere better.

I found this hostel on Hostelworld. As it being our first hostel-stay in Central America it was nearly perfect! The owner/receptionist was extremely friendly and answered all of our questions helpfully. He also told us about other places of Costa Rica that he thought was worth a visit. So nice! Furthermore the hostel sent a taxi to pick us up...

I flew out from San Jose and I got there late at night and exhausted and the staff helped me get a bus to the airport and was overall super nice. I could have fell asleep on anything at this point but the beds were nice enough and everything was relatively clean.

Stayed here for over a week waiting for my flights out and by far the weirdest feeling hostel I've come across. The hostel has so much potential yet falls short for engaging the backpackers at night time and it kinda just feels like a hotel. Idk it couldve been because i had some french canadian guys smoking weed in the...

We stayed here twice. The first time in the mixed dorm which was fine. Some bed were a little bit wobbly. The second time we stayed in the all female dorm which was really good. It had a sort of own shower/badroom for the room with nice showers. Also the beds were better than the mixed dorm. Very good place...
