I was a solo female traveller, my first time in Latin America. I found this hostel to be very welcoming and chilled out. Defiantly a home from home. There are enough toilets and showers, which are reasonably clean, a fridge and cooking facilities available for use. The biggest plus point is the location, right in the heart of San Jose,...

Nice Hostel in a very good location in central San Jose. Very helpful owner and knowledgeable about trip planning in Costa Rica. Spacey, but noisy rooms. Well refurbished place. Unfortunately facilities were lacking some daily maintenance, e.g. bathrooms cleaning, emptying trash bins. Pre-arrival questions via emails remained unanswered.

I only stayed one night here at the hostel but it was really great. Ask David about the history and architecture of the building. He is super knowledgeable and very helpful. My only bad thing is that the beds were super squeaky, so you could hear every movement. We were not there late enough to enjoy the breakfast so I...

The hostel is located close to the downtown, so it's easy to walk anywhere. The owner, David was super cool and helpful. I visit San Jose quite often, and will definitely stay in this hostel next time too.

Clean, accomodating, great location for buses out of SJO. It was pretty quiet and seemed to be mostly travellers as opposed to partyers. The people at the front desk were great. Nice bed. Big sitting area in kitchen is really nice and sort of outdoors.

This place is pretty cool and the staff are amazingly helpful and knowledgeable about the area and how to get where you need to go. It is also really close to transport (many nearby bus stations). The place needs a few repairs and could be a bit cleaner but overall I had great experience here. I would definitely stay here...

Booked this hostel through Airbnb and it was great! It was really close to the downtown core. The owner, David, was super accommodating as well! Clean hostel with a kitchenette and washer/dryer. I would definitely stay here again if I was ever in San Jose.

We stayed with David through air bnb - he is a great host, very welcoming! Van Gogh hostel is very nicely finished and set in a beautiful old building. The beds are clean and comfortable and the dorms are pretty spacious! David very kindly let us move to a different form so we had a room to ourselves during our...

Many pass through San Jose en route to somewhere and this hostel is well placed for a quick stroll to the city centre, as well as convenient to the bus stops. The vibe can be a bit hit&miss but the owner is super friendly and helpful, sure to make your stay more pleasant.

The Hostel is ok....Its location is Excelent, right in the heart of san José, a little bit expensive like everything else in Costa Rica! The owner is very helpful and nice person. The Dorm room needs a fan, it only had a very small window to the interior of the hostel (hallway) so no air circulated freely so its stuffy...
