I found this place very comfortable as a single woman visiting San Jose. Staff at the desk and restaurant were very helpful and friendly (spoke English and Spanish), and the location was very convenient - on the same block as the Jade Museum, and a...More
Spent one night and was chased off by the bedbugs, old musty bed covers, and a 6:30 am wake-up from other guests' voices in the hallway, which appears to double as a sound amplifier.

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. We didn't see any noteworthy attractions nearby, but found the parks, streets, shops and markets nearby safe to walk to. We did get out about 10 in the morning, and felt no qualms about being out. The hotel is in the business district, so there always a lot of people around. Our driver from the airport recommended being watchful when we used our cell phones in the event someone came by and tried to grab the phone, but we didn't encounter any thieves.
