My wife and I , were looking for a place that was close enough to the attractions yet away from all the incessant noise of traffic and people . We wanted to hear the birds , wild life and just soak in the fresh air . So we decided to stay at villas Jacquelina and it was just that and more. The staff were amazing and Esteban the manager was very welcoming , if I could give him a grade on hospitality, it would be an A ++++ . I strongly recommend this place . Pictures “Do Not” do this place justice . We are excited to come back to villas Jacquelina very soon ! Happy travels my friends !
This is a property where the host makes a big difference, fountain of local knowledge, gracious. The guy, Steve comes from Tucson, built the place which is located on a steep hill within walking distance of downtown. There are rooms with multiple beds, some with AC, some apartments with kitchen and a unique penthouse on the top which is totally open to the surroundings and the view, for $100/nt,, a real bargain. We rented the apt. which is a real steal at $60. Breakfast extra at $6 but well worth it. Stairs so no handicapped or heart patients
As I mentioned on a previous review a few years back, VJ is a great place to stay. Steve is a lad and a half, and it was great to see his family again. My family and I had such a great time the first time we visited we didn’t think we could have that much fun again, but Steve proved us wrong. I love talking to people, and his lounge area is great for that. I met some lovely people from other parts of the US, from Mexico, from France, and from the Netherlands this time. The ambience is fantastic. Very relaxing. I usually dread going back to the hotel during my vacations, but at Steve’s I’m always wondering what I’ll be pleasantly surprised by. Somehow, there are always fantastic people there. It’s almost as if Steve hand-picks the best people to stay at his home...or maybe the best people just have good taste in lodging ;) breakfast at VJ’s was fantastic. The food on its own was great, but there’s something about taking a sip of fresh Costa Rican coffee in the open lounge area, feeling the cool morning mist as you look above the Costa Rican foliage illuminated by the rising sun, serenaded by the wildlife, that just makes waking up at home just really disappointing XD after that experience, mornings back home are just meh. I definitely know where my happy place is. That’s why like I said last time, I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for having us again Steve <3 P.S. My mom accidentally stole one of your towels, sorry.…
Villa Jaquelina is quite simply one theeee best places I Have ever stayed. It’s different and that’s the best part. It’s not a fancy shmanzy place. It’s a TRUE heart and soul place. If you care about that then get here!!! Steve is the man, a true lengend!! Salt of the earth guy that would do anything to improve your stay! It’s close enough to everything that you need around Quepos and Manuel. And just far enough for some great peace and quiet. There’s a boat load of wonderful things to do very close to here and trust Steve to book your adventures with true locals that share some of the same “terroir” of Costa Rica!
I had a wonderful stay at Villas Jaquelina. From the moment I arrived Steve went above and beyond to help make me comfortable. I got in in the evening when it was dark so he kindly helped me order some food for delivery. He was a great resource for reccomendations and directions. The Villas are just a little walk from center to town (10-15 min) where you can also catch the public bus to manuel antonio beaches. Rooms are simple, but they serve their purpose (trust me you'll want to be out exploring!) I'd definitley stay here again and highly recommend!!
