Overall, we had a good experience...but there are some caveats. First of all, make sure you are careful with your room selection. We spent our entire 10-day vacation in room G (except the last night). Room G was fantastic! We had a great view of the grounds, it was large, and it was clean. Our final night, we stayed in...

Thanks for your review. It definitely help us to improve those areas that need to be improved and others to know about it. There is difference in the room category and not only in the price. A couple of the standard rooms are windowless (because of the law we can not have windows when the wall is adjacent to another...

The Hotel Mandarina is very cosy and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and helpfull. The flat are very nicely furnished and quiet. There is also a wonderful garden with a nice swimming-pool. We stay one night and it was very restfull.

Overall, very good stay. Clean room, clean and well-stocked bathroom. Bed was a little uncomfortable (springs lost their tension in areas). Wifi with provided password did not work. Breakfast was delicious, surroundings were beautiful, and staff was awesome! I was a late check-in (after reception hours), and the security guard was told to help me so there was no problem.

We were late getting reserverations for early march, and the Mandarin was not our first choice; however, it turned out great. The front desk was super helpful answering all my questions. We lucked out because our room was adjacent to the pool/community area so we had wifi in the room. The breakfast are hand-made Tico style be locals. Manuel Antonio was...

We spent 4nights at Hotel Mandarina and had a wonderful time. The location couldn't be better; only steps away from restaurants, shopping and beaches and also a short 4minute drive to the Nat. Park Manuel Antonio and its beautiful beaches. You get to start your day with an outdoor breakfast listenjng to the howler monkeys- this is all you need...

Nice, inexpensive hotel near Manuel Antonio Park. Take the bus to the park for only 40 cents or so. Nice, helpful staff. Comfortable rooms but don't expect high luxury. Eat at the restaurants nearby. Don't go into the "town" at night. One afternoon we were overwhelmed by a dozen monkeys on the hotel grounds. We actually didn't feel completely safe...

Thanks for your review ! We strive to get better every day and improve our services. Depending of the kind of monkeys..some are more friendly that others... The jungle is their home and we have to respect that all these hotels, restaurants etc were built in the middle of it. ..Maybe they get annoyed with all the humans around.?..but they...

The bedroom was very comfortable, although our bathroom was a little cramped. We very much enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the refreshing pool. The staff prepared excellent breakfasts each morning and all in all it was a fun experience. I am not so fond of monkeys visiting the area each day, but can live with that.

Thanks for the review. We strive to improve every day and offer better services to all our clients. We are in the jungle so we are the ones intruding in the monkey´s home !...Luckily they do not mind us either most of the time ! :)

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Mandarina is a small boutique hotel. It has a history in Manuel Antonio since the early 1990s. It has previously been known as Hotel El Dorado Mojado and Hotel Kekoldi. In 2007, the 12 unit hotel has been given the new name Hotel Mandarina. Mandarina is known as a small orange, like a tangerine, in Costa Rica. Hotel Mandarina is located in Manuel Antonio, just outside the small Pacific coast port town of Quepos. We are at the highest elevation on the main road about halfway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. If you choose to drive, you can park your rental car in our secure lot behind the reception building. Manuel Antonio is only 3 1/2 hours by car or bus from San Jose, so long as you take the shortest route. Faster yet is a 20 minute plane ride from San Jose on Nature Air or Sansa Airlines. Quepos and Manuel Antonio are fairly easy to navigate since there are only a few main roads. We are just 3 km away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica with the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park at the end of the main road. A twenty minute walk down the secondary road from the hotel will bring you to a secluded beach. The local bus stops 50 yards from the hotel and brings you to the main beach or Manuel Antonio National Park in 5 minutes. There are several restaurants and cafes within walking distance as well as services like supermarket, bank/ATM, bars, yoga/spa, gym, and souvenir stores among others. ... more   less

“Ask if you need anything. Market across the street along with a pharmacy and bank. Shower could have fit a family of four. Bed was comfy and got the hang of the air conditioner so as not to freeze ourselves. Lots of counter space to set your stuff on and outlets to recharge camera and computers. A frig and safe were provided and a closet with hangers. Lovely.”
