The journey to Laguna Lodge is an exciting experience in itself. Traveling through a couple of large banana plantations before you reach the area to board your boat. You will then travel on a series of rivers and canals passing the village of Tortuguero before you arrive at your destination. The Caribbean is on one side of the lodge and...

This was our first stop in Costa Rica (after landing in San Jose, of course) and was a very pleasant surprise. There was no television, but believe me, there is nothing you can see on the TV that would come close to what nature has to offer in the Tortuguero National Park. Travelling by boat on the canals is nothing...

This hotel is a bit of a trek to get to. Very long rough bumpy road and then an hour & half boat ride. Canals on one side and Caribbean Sea on the other(you can't swim in the ocean here). The hotel rooms are very basic but clean(no tv's or phones). The pools are really nice. Food was good. We...

"My stay at the Laguna Lodge was an exceptional experience in every way. The lodge is both an eco friendly and luxurious oasis inside a national park. I would recommend this place for everyone including: families, couples, single travelers, and children. Eco travelers, photographers, and children will love this place because it is located in the middle of a rainforest....

My wife and I stayed at Laguna Lodge while on a recent Caravan Tour of Costa Rica. This lodge is in an area for ecotourists so don't expect a TV, air conditioning or a phone. You will however be visited by howler monkeys on the property. Several of the visitors saw a macaw. The island where the property is located...

Know that when you come here, the trek will be long and the lodgings rustic. That said, the staff are top-notch, super-friendly, and bilingual (if you can speak Spanish at all, you earn bonus points — it isn't necessary at all, but the locals do appreciate it). The grounds are immaculate, the rooms are perfectly clean (with the odd invasion...

Visited with Caravan Tours and found this place better than expected from the operator's description. It's simple accommodation while clean and quiet. Plenty of hot water, internet access, close to a little town. A good swimming pool and good food. No phone or TV in the room - wonderful! What else can you ask for?

Very basic accommodations with 2 single beds with thin mattresses. You spend so little time in your room it does not matter. No phone, tv or a/c but fan & open windows keep you cool. In the morning there is a wake up knock to start your day. Bring shampoo & washcloths. Beautiful grounds, clean pool, & a good buffet...

A one hour boat ride gets you to this beautiful resort. It's advantage is that you have access to both the river and the ocean. Wonderful staff. Rooms are basic as you would expect from a resort where the important things happen outside. Very clean rooms with rocking chairs on the porch. Very good food, clean swimming pools and lots...

The Laguna Lodge in Tortuguero isn't a 5 stars hotel. It's got two swimmingpools, the staff working ther is really nice and helpful and the food is great too. It's a very difficult to reach place: you can either go by boat or plane -- and when you get there well... you can't jump in the Atlantic Ocean because the...
