The place outside looked really nice and is well done. You have very comfy hammocks outside of every room. We liked that. But inside the rooms it should be done a bit. The sheets where so old, and should be changed. Even if they might be washed it doesnt feel very nice. Also the moskito net is not long enough....

We stayed at Cabinas Tropical last December. The staff was very helpful & accommodating. Our room was impeccably clean when we arrived, & was kept that way daily by the friendly maid service. We rented bicycles in like-new condition from the hotel, which made us free to bike for a quick dip at Playa Negra, explore town, and ride the...

My wife and I stayed in Cabinas Tropical in January 2014, We really enjoyed our stay and plan on coming back next year. The hotel is spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the tour at the jungle with Juana and Rolf, very kind people.

Porto viejo is a great place to stay ,we stay there for 4nights,unfortunately the staying in cabinas tropical ruined our time there. When I turned to the owner for explanations to...

We stayed at the Cabinas Tropical for five days. We we're only supposed to stay for three nights but it was just such a nice place. The room was great, clean and huge. Haven't seen a bathroom this big any other place during three months of travelling. I have to say we stayed in one of the bigger upper rooms....

Beautiful walled garden courtyard with bananas, coconuts, flowers, birds and exotic frogs. Clean comfortable rooms with TV and frig. Bikes for rent. Close to beaches, beach trail to Cocles, bus stop, shopping and restaurants, yet not on the main road. I included (I hope)a photo of the nesting hummingbird near our room.

I spent three weeks in Costa Rica in February, each week in a different part of the country. I found the Caribbean side of Costa Rica more "off the grid" than the Pacific side, which was actually nice not to be reachable by cell. The accommodations were fine for the cost. My only complaint is one of the locals approached...

We always rent bikes for our stay in PV. It makes a trip to the beach, store, Punta Uva etc so much easier. Now there are new bikes to rent right at Cabinas Tropical. So much easier than renting and returning during the hours of operation of the bike shop. Every day they were cleaned and maintained, so important in...

We feel lucky to have a room here during the Easter weekend. The beach towns will be packed. It is always wonderful to stay in this convenient location, close to the stores and a few minutes from swimming at Playa Negra or off the point right in town. Rolf and Juana are always so gracious and helpful. We feel secure...
