We had a great time here! Nice pools, nice rooms, great service and food, although breakfast was a little messy and they run out of some options pretty early. Location is perfect, beach front, ocean view, beach access, at 5 minutes away from town. Will recommend it to anyone!

What a wonderful hotel! Not super fancy, definitely not five-star, but it had everything that was important to us: A+++ location, gorgeous beach, fantastic pool, beautiful grounds, nice restaurant, excellent FREE breakfast (served daily until 11 am), and free wi-fi in the room (better in some rooms than others). We had a "junior villa" with cold AC, ceiling fan, KING-size...

We stayed in a Standard Room for three nights. It had a beautiful view of the Pool, Grounds, and Ocean. The Standard Rooms are in a separate building from the Villas, and are all upper level so views were as promised on the web site, photos of room were just as we found it, not always the case in other...

Right on the water, not too far from Puerto Viejo, in the direction of Panama. The "cabins" we stayed in are two-story units in groups of 4. PROS: many including the pool and the freshwater showers poolside; lavish availability of towels; wildlife rehab center about 300 m away, wonderful, don't miss it; nice traditional Tico breakfast of eggs and gallo...

Ok, this hotel is not perfect. It's a mid range budget hotel, so this review takes that into consideration. It is perfectly situated BEACH FRONT with a pool no less, and just that is enough to warrant to full marks given!! That said: PROS: Great spot right on the beach with fabulous landscaping and a great pool. We had a...

Our first impression of the hotel was not too good. I had never seen a reception desk behind a closed window - not very welcoming - and the whole place looked like it was abandoned. The room was a good sized room with a huge king size bed. The bathroom shower had hairs from previous guests and had clearly not...

I love Villas del Caribe! We drove by and stayed there on a whim, and I think it's one of Cocles' best kept secrets! I loved being able to stay right on the beach, and see and hear the ocean from my balcony! I love that the Jaguar Rescue Center is right down the street!! Everything I wanted was close...

Had a nice room at the ground floor with a huge porch to enjoy the garden and seaviews. Gardens very well kept, just like the lovely pool area. The room had a tv, very well working airconditioning, a fan and a huge bed. Also there was a kitchen with a fridge, plates and glasses and a coffeemaker. Shower was semi-outside...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Life is at its tranquil best at Villas del Caribe. The days go something like this: You wake to the sound of bird songs and a view from your bed of silvery palms and clear blue sea. You throw open the sliding doors and take to the hammock on the balcony for a little rest, refreshed by the ocean breeze. You may now be ready to take a dip in our swimming pool and enjoy the elevated thatched Jacuzzi for a relaxing massage.Once the lure of the sea becomes too much, you wander through the landscaped gardens onto the beach path, where you face a decision between the long, deserted golden sand beach to the left or the many pristine golden sand beaches to the right. You settle for one of the shallow, sandy natural lagoons formed by the coral reef right offshore, and watch tropical fish wiggle past your toes. After a fresh water shower on your terrace, you walk over to the SeaSide Restaurant for breakfast or a snack, then you take a bike and cycle down the flat paved road past fields, forest, a few thatched bars and restaurants to Puerto Viejo for coffee or a drink, the local gossip, and some good, fresh fish at the beachfront store. You spend the afternoon alternating between the beach and the sea, the loungers on the terrace, and the hammocks on the balcony. ... more   less
