Clean, spacious rooms tastefully decorated in tropical colors, a friendly and helpful staff, and reasonable rates. The common area is very nice for a morning cup of coffee before strolling a few blocks down to the beach!

We had a really pleasant stay at Cabinas Guarana. The staff and owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy and the terrasse with hammock was great as well as the lovely rainforest garden around it. The only critical thing one could mention are the old towels, they could do some new ones. Also the location...

Great location- walking distance to restaurants, grocery, town center. Had three beds with mosquito nets. Screened windows that have boards to close for privacy. If u have neighbors it can be noisy at night bc of this. No bugs in room but a mosquito haven right outside so we couldn't enjoy the hammock on private patio (It WAS rainy season)....

A back packer stay, not far enough away from bars for quiet (3blks). Room basic and beds comfortable with clean linen. Floor filthy and sand pool in shower, stuffy unless fan on high. Not one we would return to or recommend. Staff at reception lovely and helpful

This is not a backpacker's stay. If you came during Christmas eve, as we are located in the center, i surely agree with you about noises. This hotel is small, well decorated , but still small. I am sorry for the sand in the shower plate, I will pay attention. But i don't think backpacker's hostel room get cleaned every...

Stayed here with my wife for 5 nights. For the price we paid we thought they exceeded our expectations. We live in Costa Rica and you travel to budget friendly hotels you really never know what you will get. The bed they had there was extremely comfortable and we slept like babies every night which is exactly what we were...

Great location, quiet, charming, hammocks are great. Good value. Nice to have a kitchen. The fans work well also. Owner was very easy going and helped protect our bikes at night. The best breakfast place 'cafe rico' is just down the road

This place is fine but nothing more. It's not that there was anything awful about just that there wasn't anything really good either. The main plus was the girl on the front desk who gave 2 very good recommendations for places to eat. It's fine for a couple of nights.

I stayed in Hotel Guarana for 2 nights earlier on this year. I was welcomed by a very friendly french young man who was very eager to please. I arrived a bit early so my room was not ready, but after a little bit of sightseeing I checked in. The hotel is in an excellent location, just 3 minutes walk...

Guarana is an awesome little place close to pretty much everything in Puerto viejo. The staff is really laid back and super nice! The rooms are large with a private bathroom. There is a shared kitchen if you would like to grab food at the market and cook. Great place to stay in Puerto viejo!

Cabinas Guarana is simply great. A chill, no hassle atmosphere, quiet setting a block from the beach and center of town, relatively inexpensive ($30 a night for a private room), clean, comfy, and a shower I wasn`t afraid to use. The staff is so friendly and they rent bicycles by the day so you can get to the nicer beaches...
