Nice small hotel with very nice and confortable bungalows. It is located right in front of the beach. Nice and quiet beach, though. The property has a central bungalow with chairs and tables perfect to seat and relax. It was really nice to take breakfast there with the rain. There is also a small pool. The property is located just... More

Service was friendly and helpful (they had originally set up an apartment with a double bed for our children but when they saw we had a boy and a girl they changed it straight away) and they served great breakfast. Right next to the beach (nice beach but not exactly picturesque in August, however there are better beaches in central... More

We stayed at the bungalows for 3 nights. They are about a mile outside of town down a very rough road. We had a taxi take us there and then we rented bikes to get around during the rest of our stay. (There is a bike rental place very close to the bungalows near the laundry mat). The pool is... More

This very small resort is located about a mile from Cahuita, on the Playa Negra. A part beach and part dirt road takes you to town. They have small number of bungalows placed in the gardens around a central reception, breakfast and pool area. I didn't see any sign of the restaurant ever opening, but plenty of food options along... More

We were referred to Bungalows Malu by another B&B operator (Cabinas Nirvana) after that operator couldn't find our reservations. Bungalows Malu advertises in Germany as a family friendly operation, and when we were there, indeed, there were German families enjoying themselves. The bungalow we had was large, clean, and free of bugs and had a nice bathroom. Everything in the... More

My wife and I spent five nights here in early December just before the high season begins. We hadn't planned out the trip very well, but after arriving on the Caribbean coast at the end of a two-week Costa Rica trip we located this place while seeking out a room with air conditioning. After getting here, we looked around for... More

My girlfriend and I planned to stay in Cahuita four nights before moving inland on our two week vacation. Stayed at another place for two nights that we were not too crazy about and then heard about this place from one of the locals. We fell so much in love with Bungalow Malu and the staff we ended up staying... More

Well, in truth, in the low season it’s all quiet, but Bungalow Malu, owned by Italians, is at the very end of Playa Negra and at the quietest bit, away from the Reggae Bar and any noise. When full there may be some activity but it was just myself and a long-term guest and extremely quiet. The pool is really... More

We stayed here four nights in January 2013. This is one of the few lodgings in the area if Cahuita with Air Conditioning. This also one of the few places in the area if Cahuita with a pool. Both these things were very appreciated as this is the tropical jungle and it is hot and steamy year round. The owners... More

“Each bungalow is laid out a bit differently so do email them and see what is available that might suit your needs. If I had know that there was one with a separate living room area from the bedroom I would have booked that.”
