The place is located only a few minutes walk to the beach and the centre of tamarindo, which is very convenient. The place stays very quiet and you are not affected at all by the noise level of the tamarindo night life. The rooms are very confortable and so are the beds. Carine is just the perfect kind of host...

From the time we booked the room ... Carine went out of her way to help us arrange very reasonable airport transportation, excursions, and anything else we needed. We couldn't have asked for any more! The rooms are small but adequate, very comfortable, and clean. The fully stocked shared kitchen is a nice option that we would have used it...

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst travelling around Costa Rica on our honeymoon. I booked Hotel Mahayana on the strength of the great review and I can see where everyone was coming from. Unfortunately, when we were there the place was undergoing some refurbishment and was a bit of a mess. It is in...

We stayed 6 nights at Hotel Mahayana after Christmas including New Year's Eve. It was the perfect base to explore Tamarindo - very small and quiet, away from the noisy town but just a few minutes walk from the centre and brilliant restaurants. Carine was lovely and very helpful. The room was spotless and the hammocks and pool area were...

As soon as we arrived, Carine, the owner, came to greet us and right away she made us feel welcome. Our room was impeccably clean, nicely decorated and the perfect size, with a fridge and a safe box. Each room has a little terrace with a hammock, wooden table and chairs, facing the courtyard and fresh water pool. There is...

Hotel Mahayana is a hidden oasis in the craziness that is Tamarindo. It's set back up on a hill away from the busy and dusty streets, but only a 5-10 minute walk to pretty much anywhere you want to go. It's 6 motel-style rooms surrounding a courtyard with a tiny pool and outdoor kitchenette. The rooms are tastefully done with...

Wonderful little hotel just minutes from the beach, yet quiet and tucked away from the main street. Close enough to everything, but a peaceful little retreat. Small courtyard and pool, AC, wifi, coffee and charm to spare. Carine was a lovely hostess. I can't wait to go back.

A great place, off the beaten path. Quiet, clean and friendly! Stayed for nearly a week. Inexpensive laundry service, pleasant host, communal outdoor kitchen. Overall a fun experience. The only thing that got to me was the spotty wifi - while free, it sometimes didn't work or was very poor signal.

I was lucky enough to find Hotel Mahayana before starting my trip to Costa Rica and to Tamarindo! From the very first mail Carine, the owner, was greatly helpfull. She even organized the very efficient shuttle service to collect me from the airport and bring me to her Hotel. The rooms are great. 6 rooms with a bathroom each, full...

Friendly, welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful location. Clean rooms opening onto communal area complete with pool/hammocks to cool off or simply ponder the day away. The owner, Cecile, was extremely helpful and helped make my first trip to Costa Rica a truely enjoyable experience. Thank you Cecile! À bientôt
