My husband and I have been travelling for the last five months, and we found our favourite place! This small "Boutique" hotel has everything you need while in Tamarindo. Spotless rooms, communal outdoor kitchen (very well stocked with pots and pans, as well as necessities), air conditioning, cable, hot water (!!!) and a pool in the courtyard. Cedric the owner...

We stayed here only for one night, as our hostel for an extra night cost more than this place! After staying in hotel Mahayana we wished we stayed here for all 4 nights of our trip in tamarindo. We had the studio room and absolutely loved it! Money well spent

Located 10 min walking to the beach this hotel is a great deal. With only £50 per night we had a room with a private entrance and private garden. The patio is great, you have a small bed outside, hammock and small kitchen. This was excellent for our pockets because the restaurant around are not cheap. The room was big...

We spent a week over Christmas at Hotel Mahayana with our two teenagers. I've been visiting Costa Rica for three decades now, starting with a few months spent studying language as a university student back in the 80's. Mahayana is kind of a throwback to what I think was a better, less touristy era in the country in general and...

Very friendly owner(?). We had a problem with a smell in our room, she was very apologetic about it and we got to change room. The room was very clean so the smell was probably because of rain or the AC or something. The place it self is very cozy, and relaxed. Some reviews complains about small rooms. They are,...

The room was basic but clean and the courtyard created a nice atmosphere with hammocks, a kitchen, and a small pool. We had a little trouble finding the hotel at first, but once we found it the location was convenient yet quiet. Great value option for a budget trip!

I enjoyed my stay here. It's a little over over a five minute walk to the beach. The rooms are small but honestly you aren't going to spend much time in it anyway. There is a nice patio/pool area if you want to sit out in the morning before heading to the beach. There is a kitchen available if you...

We have been coming to stay at Mahayana for 3 years and we absolutely love it. It has everything you need and so close to everything in Tamarindo but nice and quiet as well. The new pool is a huge bonus! Rooms and bathroom are always very clean, and the air conditioning works a treat after a hot day at...

The rooms / bathroom were very tidy and fully equipped There was a nice clean pool where you could freshen up at the end of the evening after the beach. A fully equipped kitchen was avaiable for guests to make their meals and breakfast. The best thing was the hostess, Carine, who was always avaible and cared for all the...

This place is located just a short walk away from the middle of town and beach, but it is far enough away to be peaceful. The owner is absolutely fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and simple. The common kitchen was very useful as we were able to make several meals ourselves.
