Good food, spacious and comfortable rooms, killer 4th floor infinity pool, great location right on the beach. In the “Playa” room, (lowest priced), we could have used a coffee pot, a microwave, and a refrigerator. With a bad hip, I loved the elevator. Everyone who works there is very nIce, especially Roberto, Jasmine, and Betty, the owner.
What a beautiful location for a hotel! We were greeted with a lovely cocktail as we checked in and our luggage was taken to our immaculately clean room. The hotel is on the beach....no crossing the street or walking down a trail. The hotel provides towels and chairs for the beach. The rooftop pool is the perfect place to watch the sunset! The restaurant is adjacent to the beach. We did not have dinner on the grounds but the breakfast which was included was absolutely delicious!. Every employee we encountered could not have been friendlier. The only problem we had was we only had one night as we were flying out of Liberia airport the next day(a half an hour $40.00 cab ride.....could not be easier or a better way to end 3 weeks in Costa Rica)
We loved our time at La Gaviota. We inquired about a few details during the booking process. Roberto was prompt and straightforward in his responses. After a long day of driving, we were welcomed with warm smiles, a delicious, fruity cocktail, and an amazing view. The room was spacious, allowing us to unpack, settle in, and relax. The kind staff was always available to help with everything from early morning coffee to ice for our room to yummy local dishes. We will definitely return to La Gaviota!
If you are looking for a nice, relaxing time this is the hotel for you! PROS: Wait staff/Hotel staff are amazing Rooms are clean and beautiful Food at Roberto's is the best Ocean just feet away from hotel Hotel only has five rooms Wildlife all around you Rooftop pool is awesome/great view Close to other restaurants for variety CONS: None Information: ATM is within walkable distance, but nice to just bring a lot of cash with you for tours, ocean fun (The ATM at the Liberia airport was broken also) Book at least one tour beforehand Learn some basic Spanish. They really appreciate it!
This small hotel is REALLY a boutique hotel despite so many others purporting to be boutique. Only 5 rooms with “Sol y Mar” the best which is a suite, beautifully designed with a large terrace over looking the beach. Immaculately clean with terrific staff. Rooftop pool, which gets a bit hot with minimal shade during the afternoon, but who needs a pool with gorgeous Playa Hermosa just out the door. Wonderful location, quiet, great breakfast included with traditional and local items. This is a comfortable place to return to repeatedly! Muchas gracias, pura vida siempre.
