What didn't we like. Thanks to friendly Darlene checking us In and the hospitality that was extended to us by Alejandro our experience was great. Beautiful grounds, pool and rooms. There was even a few cold drinks awaiting us in our refrigerator. If we needed something all we needed to do was ask. The hotel is just far enough from... More

The room (G) was large and came equipped with a safe, coffee maker, small fridge and safe. Pool was average size and shallow. The breakfast was the same for the 5 days which consisted of coffee, juice, bread, rice and beans, watermelon, papaya, pineapple, scrambled eggs and sausage. Owners and staff were terrific.

Really nice, large, clean rooms. Very nice and friendly staff. Really great property on the back streets but still very close to the beach. The only thing that wasn't perfect was that the pool was under a lot of trees and it got dirty very very quickly so you almost needed for someone to constantly clean it. For that reason... More

Stayed here for 7 nights via a diving package with Deep Blue Diving. Very spacious rooms, good A/C, clean, fridge. Well kept garden and swimming pool. Breakfast not a lot of options but tasty and fresh. Owners and staff very friendly. Very close to the diving centre and beach and close to the centre of the town as well. I... More

I would honestly never, ever dare to stay at this place again. Due to a simple mix up with the hotel policy the owner actually attempted to come by our room 3 times in an evening and demand us to pay more due to having an extra person or leave. The amount for each additional person is quite ridiculous, and... More

Town center is about a 5 minute walk as well as the beach. The owner (Alesandro) is very friendly and helpful. I was bummed that he wasn't there at check out to... More

We stayed for five days in late June. Our first impression walking in was that the grounds and landscaping were incredibly well thought out and beautiful. The rooms are built around a center that contains fruit trees and several gazebo/gathering areas. Our room was large with a partial volume ceiling, recessed lighting, and an a/c that was more than enough.... More

This place is charming in its own way and that starts when you turn onto the short dirt road leading to the entrance. We came back for the second time after five years and found all the same, lied-back, romantic, the lush tropical garden, the blue, inviting pool. As it was the beginning of the green season in May, the... More

My wife an I booked 5 days of scuba diving in Playas del Coco and I did extensive research on hotels and bed & breakfast inns around the town. We absolutely loved La Puerta del Sol. It's far enough away from the downtown to avoid the tourists and the noise. But, it's close enough that you can walk to anything,... More

Hotel grounds are very well maintained, pretty and full of birds. The pool was cool and refreshing which is a first in CR. Most pools are warm in April. Great way to just relax and enjoy a coffee, just ask owner or staff and they will get you a cup. Darlene was very nice and helpful. We wanted to take... More

“We stayed in the suite with a balcony, Room F. Would highly recommend it. It's a large room with a great balcony overlooking the pool.”

“Room F is a bit more expensive, but is much larger and upstairs. It has a huge walk in shower and a fridge.”

“Rooms are all the same (excl. the suite, of course). Rooms A-D face their back to the neighbor, with the accompanying, but not annoying, background sound. Rooms F-I face their back to a street, but there is not many cars on their, so it might be more quiet. Rooms A, D, F and I are at the building ends, with A and I on the outside of the L-shape. Room A is furthest away from the breakfast room (with far being a very short distance anyway) and Room I is closest. With all this said, due to the overall small size of the compound, there is probably not much difference produced by the position of the room.”
