We stayed here a night after visiting the National Park with our 1-year old son. Gerard, the owner, is a very hospitable and calm man who has the ability to let you feel at home and share some great tips about the area. Nice bed, hot shower, beautiful garden, sweet little village. For a little family like ours, a great... More

El Sol Verde is a convenient location to the park and close to pulperias for snacks and food. There are open spaces to set up your own tents, small wood and canvas tents, and cabinas to rent. There are showers, bathrooms, and kitchen sinks for cleaning up and preparing food.

This was the first stop my boyfriend and I made on our 2 week trip traveling around Costa Rica. And it actually wound up being my favorite place, even after going to the fancier hotels in the mountains, the tourist traps at the beach, the hippie beaches of Montezuma, and the more densely populated cities. I loved all those places,... More

This campsite is situated in well manacured grounds with an abundance of wildlife including a resident Iguana who lives in a tree near the dining area. We brought our own tents and camped here although there are "tent houses" and chalets available. The facilities are great with showers and toilets in close proximity to the camping area. There's also a... More

We stayed for 2 nights in one of the tent-houses. Beforehand we were a little afraid that they would get extremely hot with the sun on it, but because they are mostly made of wood and offer good ventilation, they are actually pretty cool inside and we slept very well! If you like to sleep in a tent and get... More

We were greeted by the wife of this husband and wife operated gem and she was quite friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly serviceable, though quite warm as is to be expected in this part of Costa Rica, the addition of some sort of fan to help with air circulation would be nice, but at least both sides of... When we arrived in Rincon de la vieja, we had just completed by far the longest leg in our scheduled roadtrip, and we were all warm, sweating and basically very tired. We were welcomed by our host Gerard (Dutch guy) and he advised to go swimming in a nearby laguna. This sounded like music to our ears so off we... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and we loved it!! We camped which added to the experience as the strong winds that assure the cool nights here, blow around the tents at night. On top of that, this place is great as: - Gerard, the owner, is a fantastic guy that loves to take care of his guests. Everything is done... More

We spent 1 night in a room and the rest in the tent house. Everything about this property was immaculate and Gerard was a great host! I had some of the best nights of sleep in my whole trip here (and some really great hot showers). The sky is beautiful at night and it's very quiet and peaceful here. During... More
