We were looking for a nice and comfortable place to wind down with the kids for a few days after being on the road for while, and really found the perfect spot at Casa Luna! Spacious and clean rooms, a very good restaurant with decent...More
Out of the 5 hotels that we stayed in in Costa Rica, this was the best! So accomodating with the English speaking help and beautiful. It was my sons, 15 & 17 years old, favorite hotel in Costa Rica. Did the extreme adrenaline package, level...More
Just got back from our trip and wanted to leave a note. This place was great; it really should call itself a resort. The rooms and grounds were beautiful, very new, clean and modern. The shower and bathroom was amazing and each room has its...More
I am very picky about bathrooms and bedrooms. We had stayed one night at Tabacon, which was amazing, but was also really expensive. We were looking for a hotel that was cheaper but had nice facilities. We were visiting La Fortuna waterfall when we saw...More
Honestly, my husband and I weren't crazy about staying here because we read that that this hotel is not on the active side of the volcano ( http://www.arenal.net/arenal-costa-rica-map.htm) and not very known, but we were traveling with our friends and this was their first choice...More

Casa Luna offers various tours that you can book right there at the hotel. Some are popular so you may want to book in advance. Tours come with guide and transportation to/from hotel. We had a rental car so we did not do tours thru the hotel as we booked directly with places. There is so much to do in the area, it depends on what your cup of tea is. We visited La Fortuna waterfalls and Mistico Hanging Bridges, both worth seeing. However, if you're into adventure, recommend canyoning in the area, where you rappel down along and into small waterfalls. Very fun, easy to do. We actually did the Spider Monkey Canyoning thru Mistico Hanging Bridges Park. Pura Vida!

The first part of the road from Casa Luna Hotel, La Fortuna, Costa Rica to Montverde, Costa Rica is in fairly good condition up to the city called Tilaran which is about halfway in terms of time between Fortuna and Montverde. After Tilaran the road is drivable but very rocky and bad and one could only drive about 25-30 miles per hour. If you are renting a car, get an SUV with a high clearance. There are signs that if followed would take you to Montverde. But one has to pay close attention to these signs because it's not exactly like the markings in the United States. Again like I said earlier, it's drivable but very bad. I am going back again in April of this year. I enjoyed it so much last year and I am sure you will too.
