Stayed in the Monkey Cabin at L&L. Steve and Debbie have developed a wonderful retreat. Yes, the roads to L&L are terrible but once we arrived, it was obviously well worth the trip. Beautiful surroundings, reasonable, delicious and home-cooked meals. Friendly and helpful staff. Stay here if you into: horseback riding, birding, tropical landscapes, hiking, volcano views, fresh, organic food...

My family stayed here in the Hummingbird Hacienda and we loved everything about it. It was remote and peaceful, yet you could socialize with other guests in the beautiful open-air dining room (the food was fantastic!). It was out in the middle of nowhere, yet there was so much to do AND we didn't need to rent a car to...

Can't recommend this place highly enough. The owners and staff do everything in their power to give you a great stay. We stayed in the Heliconia House and loved it. We had our own personal rainforest haven in the back garden--we had to dart around hummingbirds to make our way across the porch! And we were perfectly located for easy...

My family and I recently stayed at this resort. What a beautiful place to visit. The owners did everything to make our stay wonderful. The resort is located miles off the main highway making it a peaceful resort surrounded in tropical lush and birds. The staff was so accommodating and friendly to all. The food was always fresh and top...

We were traveling with two children (3.5 and 5) and Deb was great finding activities that would be fun for adults and kids. The kids got a chance to collect eggs, milk cows, feed pigs, and socialize with the horses (the girls just weren't old enough to go on a ride...maybe next time). We headed to Eco Thermales for our...

We stayed a Leaves and Lizards for the first 4 days of our Costa Rica trip. We had great food, good sleeps, fabulous fellowship with other guests, etc. Steve, Debbie and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here to anyone.

Before arrival I was slightly apprehensive of how we would find Leaves and Lizards, whether the whole experience would be bit full on, especially with the 3 nights minimum stay. I shouldn't have worried, everything positive that people have written about it was true, we had a truly memorable stay. Steve and Debbie have succeeded in creating a very special...

We did a three nights stay there from February 7 to February 10, in the Coco cabin. The resort is at some distance from the La Fortuna and this guarantees absolute quietness. All sightseeing and attractions are at a short distance. From your bed and from your balcony, you see and hear the jungle and the Arenal volcano. The room...

What a wonderful trip here (was March 2011), but just wanted to add to everyone else's reviews. We stayed in the Mariposa (butterfly) cabin for 3 nights)--wonderful lush atmosphere. It rained pretty hard the first night, but the rest of the stay was fine, a little overcast but to be expected in this climate. Great breakfasts, a wonderful relaxing component...

This is truly one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! Leaves & Lizards is somewhat tucked away but it's worth the little extra drive. I would strongly suggest a 4 wheel drive to handle the rugged gravel roads. We stayed in the Tucan cabin and the accomodations were absolutely fabulous; we even found fresh milk from their cows...
