We stayed in the "Sloth" treehouse. The place was spotless when we arrived and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Each morning, our hosts dropped off a thermos of good coffee and put some plantain out to attract birds to our wrap-around porch. The breakfasts offered at the Rancho and included in the price of accommodation are fantastic,...

The Treehouses are amazing! We loved the feel of being in the canopy and walking the grounds was beautiful. We were lucky to do the night walk where we got to see lots of frogs and wildlife. Lucy and Mark are exceptional hosts and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. We loved that we awoke at 6a.m....

If you're planning to visit the rain forest, this is an ABSOLUTE MUST!! The title is true. Each time we got on a shuttle or were dropped off at/from the Tree Houses Hotel, people would ask what it was; and when we explained they were immensely jealous, which is really only worth noting in a review. I'm normally a bit...

Our family of 4 (two kids ages 6 & 9) just stayed at the Tree Houses Hotel for two nights. We have been traveling all over CR for the past two weeks and we really enjoyed this place. Our tree house (Calibri - aka Humming bird) was super cute - very nice beds (bunk beds for the kids) and enough...

We were 2 couples and stayed in 2 different tree houses, Yiguirro and Agouti. The tree houses were beautiful, spotlessly clean & wonderfully maintained with beautiful wood! We stayed 4 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. We were only able to do the night time walk once; it was very interesting. We would have done it a second...

Absolutely amazing - there are about 8 rooms all of which are a treehouse. The treehouse are hidden around the private forest. Every night, if you want to, the security guard takes you on a night hike (an hour or two) around the private forest and you can see so much - frogs, snakes, spiders, sloths, sleeping birds etc. The...

We were amazed by this place! The tree house we stayed in was better than advertised. The managers Mark and Lucy were so helpful with advice, and the breakfast was excellent. We woke up to coffee delivered right to our porch. Not only that, but they put plantains on the bird stand and there were so many birds right there...

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our 10 night trip around Costa Rica. I wish we could have stayed here longer! We were greeted by the most warm and welcoming hosts, Mark and Lucy. Mark was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great tips on getting around. Now the tree house....what can I say...?...

We returned to the Tree Houses for a second visit, having been there previously in 2012, and loved it every bit as much. Mark and Lucy continue to provide the same great service and it is so relaxing to be up in the trees in the privacy of your own comfortable tree house watching the birds and animals. We especially...

Staying at the tree houses was awesome! It's close to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano. The tree houses themselves are breath taking - private tree houses in the jungle with fresh coffee delivered every morning so you can watch the birds as you take in everything around you. Mark and Lucy are exceptional hosts! They gave us information about...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tree Houses Hotel is a bed and breakfast hotel conveniently located off the main road that runs through La Fortuna and around the Arenal Volcano. We are a short 25 minute drive to the high tourist area. People seek us out with that in mind, to be away from it all but close enough to enjoy all the fun adventure the La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano area has to offer. We have just 5 tree houses (each very private) on 8 acres and we are surrounded by a 70 acre wildlife refuge with a waterfall, pools to swim and a beautiful river. Each tree house features A/C, warm water showers, refrigerators and safes. There are few hotels like this in the world and none other in Costa Rica. There is something so very exciting about spending the night high in the forest canopy, wildlife all around you, safe and cozy in a tree house hotel in Costa Rica. ... more   less
