I wouldnt recommend this hostel. We had two beds in a dorm that really smelled. The wifi wasnt working and during the night I had to wake up because some water was leaking on me. The owner immediately changes us the dorm but the smell was the same...

We stayed here for 3 nights initially feeling its laid back atmosphere. We had a great family room on the ground floor near the bar. We were happy with this because the hostel has a 10pm quiet time and people staying who want to stay up later can either check into their sister hotel down the road or visit for...

We spent 4 nights here and booked the deluxe double private room. It was on the second floor where it felt more private and there were rocking chairs outside our door and it was a nice place to sit and read or enjoy the water fountain sounds in the small courtyard. When we arrived we were greeted and checked in...

The rooms mostly overlook the central courtyard where there are many hammocks and swing chairs. The bar is in a sunken area and there are seats in the pool that you can swim up to to order a drink. Some rooms have AC and the one we were in was cool and we had a good night's rest before hiking...

We were very happy with our stay here. We had a quad room with our two boys. The hostel is fun, with music pumping all day, and certainly attracts the backpacker crowd. But, it is also quite suitable for families and other types of travellers as well. The staff was very helpful in helping to retrieve lost luggage and with...

We booked this place only a day before coming as we wanted a private room in a hostel with AC. Initially there was some confusion as the price for 1 versus 2 people for the same room was quite a bit different (40%higher in fact). After getting past this confusion, we found this to be a great place to stay...

This hostel was so amazing! The rooms were extremely clean and the showers were hot with good pressure. My favorite part of my stay at Backpackers La Fortuna was Carlos at the front desk. He really prides himself in his bald head, so if you call him Bald Eagle when you meet him, he gives you a free drink from...

We got to La Fortunate late Friday night and were able to book for a night or two. The staff (particularly Jennifer) was super friendly and gave great advice on tours and different things we could do around town. It's in a very convenient location. Super chevere.

Traveled with a buddy of mine, doing the ol' backpacker thing. It ended up being a great time and the staff were super cool. We were suggested a hiking tour which we initially wanted to do on our own. Ended up being a highlight of our Costa Rican, 9 day adventure. Do the two volcano Cherro Chato hike if you...

Nice place for backpackers. Free welcome drink much appreciated after a day of traveling :) the hostel is located in the main street close to restaurants and tour operators. Every room has a private bathroom and you can use the swimming pool from their twin hostel next door. Towels and blankets are given upon a (quite high) deposit. The staff...
