Arriving late at the airport at the beginning of our 6 week stay in Costa Rica, it was a pleasure to arrive in this oasis. The taxi from the airport was paid for by the hotel on our arrival. The setting is superb with gardens and hammocks to further our enjoyment. Our freshly prepared breakfast the next morning was a delight...

In January 2011, we made a return trip to the Pura Vida Hotel in Tuetal, Alajuela, a 15 minute ride from San Jose Costa Rica;s airport. Our recently renovated casite, set in handsomely landscaped gardens, was immaculate, complete with coffee, servivr on the private veranda. Rooms and common areas are decorated with local crqrtts and orchids. Dinners, on request, are...

We stayed here at the beginning of our Costa Rica vacation. Berni, the owner, was pleasant and helpful from the initial booking coorespondence, to recommending a spot for dinner on our first night, to graciously helping with our rental car drop off (even though we had changed our plans and decided to stay on the Pacific coast for another night...

We loved this family-friendly inn. The staff was incredibly helpful. We had an initial snafu with car rentals and they were all over helping us solve it. They provided great tips for traveling the country. The gardens are lovely and lush, the rooms are clean and beautifully decorated and beds are comfortable. The breakfast was delightful and delicious. I would...

Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to spend at this lovely establishment. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable with a lot of thought to detail. Our room was upgraded upon arrival (we didn't have to ask). Bernie was extremely helpful before our trip helping us work out transportation details regarding our vacation....

Attended a yoga retreat for the first time. The location overlooks San Jose and the beautiful mountains surround you. The staff is attentive and informative. The range of treatments and quality of body workers is over the top. Food prepared buffet style, but organic and local...delicious. They offer a number of retreats throughout the year , great variety. The property...

Bernie and Nhi are excellent hosts. The casitas are nicely positioned in a wonderful garden with a view of volcan Poas. Beds are comfortable. Bernie arranged for our rental car, which was delivered at the hotel. The breakfast was exceptionally good. And when we needed to leave before breakfast (tour or return flight), we were provided with a wonderful box...

This was a wonderful find just out of San Jose proper up in the hills. The rooms were great, the food was better... and our hosts, Bernie and Ni were exceptional. I don't think I'd ever stay anywhere else if visiting Costa Rica again... these guys make your stay just a bit unforgettable. Pura Vida, ba-beee!!

We stayed in this hotel the last night of our trip; we expected it to be nice, but it was beyond our expectations. We stayed in the Mariposa Casita, which had two bedrooms and two baths, plus a sitting room with cool mid-century modern furniture. The rooms are decorated in a simple, attractive, and contemporary style. Outside, there was a...
