Taxi drivers are known to kidnap travelers and take them here where the place will force you to pay an exorbitant fee. This dump clearly works with the drivers to rob travelers Apparently in Costa Rica the authorities don't do much to ensure tourists safety.

Do not under any circumstances stay here, especially if you are a woman and/or traveling alone! Had no plans to stay anywhere in Alajuela and the cab driver took us here (I knew he'd probably get a commission, but we didn't mind, the price was still $35). When my sister and I went out in the evening to get dinner,...

This place is a trap. A seemingly helpful taxi driver picked us up from the bus stop. Told us our hotel was full and the highways would be closed down so we had to go to his friend's hotel in Alajuela. Upon arrival in this disgustingly dirty part of town, he told us the 15 minute cab ride would cost...

First of all, don't catch a taxi to go there , they will automatically charge you more (because the driver gets a %). Secondly, to get to some of the private rooms you have to walk across the dorms, that sucks. The dorms (hostel like) are about $30 and does not include anything else but the bed. Third, had the...

I had a layover over night. I was going to stay at the Airport but there weren't a lot of places to crash. I jumped in a cab and the taxi driver took me to Charly's place as other hotels were booked. It was $50.00 and when I woke up there was a light fruit breakfast. Owner was friendly.

We stayed for one night. It's a nice little place EXCEPT we all woke up to the sound of mosquitoes flying in our ears. None of us slept well and we all woke up with tons of bites. Lots of roaches as well. Charley was very nice though

Owner told me $15 for a room. Went to bank to go to ATM and left our things there while we walked. Got back and then he changes price of room so I politely say never mind I will go elsewhere can I have my things back. We had not been in the room yet just left our stuff cuz...

The worst hotel ever ! The taxidriver at the airport totally ignored the hotel we were asking for and drove us first at La Guaria Hotel. When we made him clear that we won't stay there, he drove us to Charly's. Because it was late and dark, we got out and stayed there for one night. Unfortunately for the host...

We heard of this hotel from one of the random guys at the airport. (Didn't do our research). Our flight landed around 10pm and we didn't have many options. The hotel was semi-nice but definitely over priced. $55usd. The hotel host was very friendly with pretty good English. Breakfast was minimal. Toast. Jam. Some fruit. NO SLEEP. Our room was...

We came into Alajuela late and had our reservation at another hotel cancelled, we chose to give Charley's a try and it was amazing! Charley was so friendly and the room was reasonably priced. I slept very well. Breakfast is included- which for me is always a plus! It was a light affair with fresh fruit toast and coffee. It...
