Very nice room. It ends there. Bad breakfast (frequent rock hard leftover fried rice and eggs, poor selection, worst coffee in the world - like sewage, but not as tasty). Two channels in English (CIS, which flips back and forth between Chinese and the same 4 TV shows over and over), (CGTN-China govt news, which doesnt work half the time). Even the China channels stink, none of the nice music historical village animal archaeology etc. Ramada across the street is a 1970's stuffy business hotel, but breakfast great and many channels like Bloomberg, BBC, CNN, and pay per view 24 hr movie access. Why cant Hol Inn charge me money and let me watch something?

Despite the view the main entrance from outside is good, the package inside is bad. Very few people of the staff speak English. The breakfast is extremely poor for an international standard even considering the rate. There was a leakage in the bathroom. The maintenance guy who came to repair left scraps and dust over the floor. There was mold in many parts of the bathroom

General premise: I am an old customer of IHG hotels. Therefore I know the standards of Holiday Inn Express Hotels very well. I can certify that this hotel is not absolutely consistent with these standards. The room was dirty and even smelling badly. The furniture was unbelievably poor. Cannot comment the breakfast: no Western food, just a few fried eggs smashed on the top of each other and literally immersed in a pot of oil. I did not see any cake or croissant (unless I was unlucky). No fruit. Any table was unbelievably dirty. Check-in: front-desk absolutely rude. We arrived at late night: no warm welcome, our documents literally thrown back to us after the registration process was concluded. But the apex of our experience was reached when my wife asked for one bottle more of purified water. The front desk stated we could not have any bottle more, if not using the automatic machine (paying therefore). It never happened to me in any Holiday Inn in China! In this moment we are in the Holiday Inn Express Dongzhimen (Beijing) and someone brought just now two bottles of purified water in our room (no discussions, no extra payments). The next question is: how is it possible that IHG does not control the standards of an hotel of this kind? It is really a shame! Never more there.

Hotel is in good location and serves real breakfast which makes your budget go really far even though cost of food is slightly cheaper in Shanghai than in Hong Kong. Could sometimes be difficult finding someone who speaks or understand English amongst the hotel staff and wi-fi can sometimes be unreliable. Rooms look good but floors with "4" included in its numbering seems deserted as I understand the Chinese attached a taboo of misfortune around the number "4". Very funny. I stayed on the 14th floor and had no misfortune.

I was very disappointed in the hotel. First I booked a room for 3 people but upon arrival they gave me one room with a small bed, I asked to change it for 2 beds they didn’t allowed. The people in front desk told me they don’t have rooms and they couldn’t arrange anything for me. I asked to pay an extra bed or sofa, they refused as well. NO SOLUTIONS AT ALL, whoever was the mistake my parents and I we were already there, is not possible to make the guest wait so long without any solution, specially if is asking to pay for the solution. I had to call my friend whom booked for me and kindly call managers to solve the problem. We were very tired and they made me waste so much time and no giving any solution, so many issues that I don’t want to even remember and so much time expending in making them understand and giving them solutions, which is unacceptable for a hotel, the staff should be the one to help the guest. Me as guest I was problem handling for them. I didn’t like the service at all, front desk not professional at all. Unfortunately bad experience, and I wish they could understand the meaning of good hospitality.
