I was staying here for a conference and it is nicely located and fairly clean. The breakfast is extensive and decent. There was a slight mold smell in the room and I did hear that the top floor had some water leaking issues, but I stayed in the middle floor and had no problems.

I spent four nights at the Suites Shanghai while attending a conference at a nearby venue. From the outside, it looks like any Chinese hotel in this category, elegant, yet gaudy and somewhat superannuated. A glimpse at the lobby confirms my first impression of an outdated hotel — a place from another decade, which would require serious revamping. The rooms...

I have stayed twice here because it was convenient and a good value for money if the prices of hotels in Shanghai will be considered. Its location is excellent above metro station of Lines 10 and 11. Thus, with the extensive metro network of Shanghai you could go almost everywhere in short or relatively short time. Near the entrance of...

Been to this business hotel several times and enjoyed so far. The location is great. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the Xujiahui and Line 10 is just next to it! If you like, you can have a walk to the fresh concession to enjoy the relax atmospheres. The bed is big and comfy. The bathroom is big...

My stay in Shanghai was very enjoyable because I was staying at The Suites Shanghai. The staff is very good; the hotel is extremely comfortable ; the suites are cozy and the beds are spacious and inviting for the home. The location is excellent and very peaceful. The hotel is near to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, two shops malls,...

The Hotel Lobby Smell Like Sewage, Hygiene practices are missing however the rooms were acceptably clean. I would recommend this Hotel for Student coming to study or attend a course in Jiao Tong University. Very Convenient since the Metro line 10 is just at the entrance of the Hotel and a 7 eleven grocery story is on the GF. The...

I agree with the previous review stating that it is a modern hotel but located at an unfashionable part of Shanghai. I visited Shanghai twice for my work and I stayed at this hotel in both of my trips, simply because our local representative office is located in the building complex next to the hotel. In general, I consider the...

This is a modern hotel in an unfashionable but convenient part of Shanghai. The rooms are large with good furniture and a very good bathroom. There is a small kitchenette albeit with no microwave and a handy anteroom with a table and chairs. There was a fast broadband connection. Housekeeping, laundry and cleanliness are first class. The overall attitude of...

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
