The Hotel is not in center of town but close to some attractions. No one really spoke english where we stayed here. The hotel was close to the Metro stop Yu Garden Line 10. To get to your hotel exit the Metro stop (exit 4) Walk straight out and proceed to crossing the street (Renmin Rd). Continue walking straight along...

I went looking for this hotel in July and it was no longer there. This hotel used to be my favourite because of the location. Just around the corner, there were a few street food stalls set up at night. The kebabs stall was my favourite, by far the best I have tasted in Shanghai. I was there looking for...

If you're in Shanghai at all you really want to be pretty central and close to the bund. This hotel is in a fantastic location, within walking distance of the bund, yuyuan garden & people's park. The sightseeing bus passes right by (although the stop is at yuyuan). The hotel is clean & comfortable. Our room (216) was very quiet....

Hotel Bit run down and sad. The staff was rude upon checkin, since they did not find my our reservation right away. The lobby is heavily perfumed -not in a good way as are the rooms. The rooms were dingy but spacious. The bathrooms however are super cramped I don't know why they didn't make use of the space better....

Warning! We were just notified this hotel has been Closed since Aug 18th. If you have reservations call your booking agent. We used Orbitz and they assisted in refund/alternate booking. It's unfortunate that it closed as the location and price appeared to be a great value.

A friend and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in early July. It is located in the Bund-a very central area in Shanghai. It's 10-15 minutes away from the subway station (Nanjingdonglu) and is safe to walk back to at night. It's just in a little street around the corner from the famous Peace (Fairmont) Hotel (my dad...

We stayed one night at the Hotel as it is very near to the Bund. It is an hours drive from Shanghai Airport and 1.5 hours from Pudong. The Bund is just a walk away from the hotel. The Breakfast is not very great for Vegans [Almost no options]. We came back in Night searching everywhere for dinner and finally...

I booked a room (at extra cost) that was described as having a window. When I checked into my room the "window" was glazed over and sealed shut. It didn't even look like a window; it looked like a large yellow glazed glass and all that was discernible through it was if it was day or night. I went down...

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
