We managed to get quite a cheap 'deluxe suite' which was huge - 84sq metres. However, the staff (with the exception of the maid) were not particularly polite, the wifi (while free) was incredibly slow, toilet paper was very cheap and thin, the furniture was old/dirty and the kitchen area came with no cooking/eating equipment. I was told I could...

A pleasant surprise. Check in was easy, staff was very patient and helpful. Room (on 27th floor) was very nice and comfortable, with an incredible view of the city. Amenities were nice, everything spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed and linens. The location was ideal, a short walk to the Jiangsu Lu metro station on Line 2. Small cafe on ground...

Very Poor living, even for China. My college student stayed here for an internship with an International company that arranges these for students. The living was not what was described. The internship job and support on the ground was not what was promised. Basically, NOTHING was what was promised. You cannot find negative reviews on this company, they seem to...

Pretty old and shabby hotel, rooms are clean in general, but all the rest requires attention, repair and rennovation. Breakfasts cheap and cold, single person at reception never smiles :) I woudn't recomend this one, even it was not expencive at all.

Staying in Zhongshan Park

Neighbourhood Profile
Zhongshan Park
The residential and commercial areas around the beautiful grounds of Zhongshan Park have never been considered particularly fashionable by a majority of Shanghai’s foreign residents, but plenty of expats do choose to live here. The park itself is a huge draw, providing a pocket of serenity in the middle of the metropolis. The area has its share of trendy shops with wares that can’t be found elsewhere, delicious restaurants with food ranging from fancy to affordable, and great hidden bars. Rents are also cheaper here than in other neighborhoods with the same conveniences. Aside from the obvious attractions, with its neighborhood fix-anything shops and pop-up street stalls that sell anything you need, you’ll never sacrifice Western comforts.
