I do not normally write reviews, but having some more time on my hands, I have decided to do so. So for me this is a first.
I stayed in the Hotel for work and was here for the 4 days for business as I have finally returned to China for almost 3 years. Lockdowns have been tough on all of us.
I stayed at this hotel last time then I was here for 1 month and this was my first choice of hotel on coming back to Shanghai as travel through-out China for the next 1 month.
Yes COVID as changed the way the Hotel is doing business as check-in is longer than before as the Hotel conducts more check’s as per the Government requests as I was advised by Annie at Front Desk. I would rather that we all have these checks done as it makes me feel safe as I know I am not going to be locked in the Hotel, as I have heard from other travellers as other Hotels has not be strict enough.
The Hotel still looks great, the team has had some changes, but I was welcomed back by Frank at the front door as if I was a long lost friend, and he help me with all the codes and app’s that I needed to travel around Shanghai for the next four days.
The room was great well laid out, clean and tide, I noticed a new JBL speaker has been added and the minibar fridge had some of the items removed. I love this as I can put in the items that I want. Extra disinfection wipes had also been added, which again makes me feel safe.
Breakfast over the next three days was not the same full luxury buffet as I had experienced 3 years ago, but a set menu of Western, Chinese and healthy options. According to Sky in the restaurant this was due to COVID. Actually the menu was more than enough for me every day. The Restaurant staff were very friendly as each day they were asking me if I needed anything extra for Breakfast.
There was not as many people around the Hotel as previous, but talking with Jeremy at Front desk, the Hotel has just re opened a month ago due to Shanghai locked down.
I did see a number of international travellers around the hotel, this to me is always a good sign of a well-run and managed Hotel.
Good luck to the Hotel Management team to getting back to normal business levels, which I am sure will happen, as the service, cleanliness and friendly service as all up to an International InterContinental standards.
I will return later this month, on my flight back to Australia, and look forward to it.
Thanks for making me feel at Home again after 3 years of being away

Stayed again for business (our preferred hotel).
This time I was upgraded to a better room which was high floor and very spacious. The bar is okay and you get a voucher for one free drink on check-in.
Buffet breakfast is huge and has a very wide range of choices.
Service throughout the hotel is good and even if English isn't great for all staff, it's good enough. Concierge can arrange taxis but beware if it rains, they are very hard to get generally in Shanghai.
Location is good for me as it is close to my office. It's also well served by Century Ave metro. However for a tourist, I would recommend staying on The Bund, Jing 'An or Xintiandi.
The gym and locker room is only okay and the (small) pool was closed this time.
My only gripe is that they don't have express checkout and as it was busy, there was a queue.

Due to the fact the my client is very close to this hotel , so I decided to stay there for 3 nights over my business trip to SH.
As a RA member, I did receive some offerings and/or privileges however which was much reduced due to the Covid 19. This hotel was a little bit old but well maintained however I have to say the housekeep services I received was really not up for standards.
Upon check in , I found a very long hair in the bed but gladly club manager Lilly corrected the situation by upgrading me into a suite. Then 2nd night , they forgot to change my bath towel and then on the 3rd nightI received a message which was addressed to me but the content of msg was for a complete different person.
Generally speaking , the staff were quite friendly and helpful for example the club manager Lily and staff serving the breakfast .
Overall it was not too bad other than housekeeping.

Staying in this hotel with my buddy. Hotel close to Yaohan & subway station with walking distance. Staff is nice and room is cleaning. I found the disinfecting alcohol pad in room which make me feel safe. Unfortunately the crab buffet is only for Friday & Saturday so have no chance to try as I am checking out tomorrow. I will recommand this hotel to my friends because of the good service and nice location.

The intercontinental is the first intercontinental hotel in China.
The hotel is conveniently located in the Lujiazui area, with many shopping malls nearby. 96 Square, China Resources Times Square, Century Circle, Yaohan.
Room facilities: The interior of the hotel has a sense of age, very retro.🥰
Sanitation: the sanitation situation is good, the desktop is very clean, no dust, because I have a little cleanliness. The mirror is clean and the sink is clean. It is my first New Year's Eve to stay in a hotel. Unexpectedly, business is very good today. There are many people at the reception desk. I guess we can't go out of town. Everyone's staying at the hotel.
Breakfast: There are many choices of breakfast, both Chinese and Western. From 6:30 to 10:30, there's plenty of time. The waiters are very nice and warm.
In the five-star hotel Lujiazui area, intercontinental cost performance is very high.😝
There is free parking for the duration of your stay. That's good.
Room View: The view from the hotel is a little poor, there is no view. [Swimming pool] The swimming pool is small with a depth of 1.4. On the afternoon of check-in, there are many children and it is noisy. I brought my bathing suit to go for a swim, but forget it
The gym is smaller and has most equipment. It's better than a swimming pool.
Wifi: Good signal, fast speed.
The overall feeling is good, although the age, but the internal structure is very retro, I like it very much.😚

Back again for another two night stay. Great to see the hotels is getting back to normal. Hotel staff are enforcing guests to wear masks in the public area which is great. A lot of hotels and restaurants are not doing this any more. Temperature check on arrival and into the restaurants, which is also good.
Bar is not open 100% of the bar, but staff told me they will be open more soon.
Breakfast is back to normal, chef was offering me a special dish for breakfast as foreign guest. This impressed me a lot...
Keep up the good work

Every employee in the executive lounge provides very good service. Although there are not many choices, the Mahjong is small and well-equipped with the basics. It can also avoid the crowds downstairs and feels very comfortable. The service staff, Ellie, Betty and Pam, are well-trained and worthy of being a five-star hotel. In addition, both catering and accommodation make people feel at home! This time it was a comfortable experience. There were 6-8 cans of mineral water in the room, and the capsule coffee in the room was also provided for free to guests. The room was large and comfortable, and the meals were exquisite. It is worth visiting again. The only drawback was that the socket was suspected of having a power outage the day before check-out, but the maintenance staff were very experienced and repaired it immediately.

Always reliable with its fine buffet megabreakfast, the Intercontinental Pudong is obviously excellent for its location near Shanghai’s larger airport. The rooms are relatively small (for Intercontinental standards) but this is Shanghai, after all, where most hotels are similarly constrained.
A brief tip: the tea served in the restaurant is embarrassingly bad, being a bog-standard brand in teabags, which everyone was being served. Ask particularly for a real tea and they’ll eventually (if you’re lucky, and maybe work your way up from the table staff to a supervisor) provide a proper pot of looseleaf Longjing. Don’t give up. 🙂

The staff at the intercontinental has been excellent. I highly recommend spending a little more and getting a room that includes executive lounge access. The breakfast is excellent and the evening food and drinks are great. Lily called me by name on my second visit to the lounge and made sure everything was perfect. The rooms are well appointed and the location of the hotel gave quick access to everything I wanted to do and see in Shanghai. If you go say Hi to Lily for me.

There is no tennis court in this hotel.
Dear Nazrib,
Here comes the official answer. The entire property is non smoking area, and actually smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas in Shanghai as announced by Government as of March 2017. We do have designated smoking area outside of the hotel lobby.
Hope my clarification helps.

Dear Guest,
There are 3 options:
1) You may take the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus will stop at a mall near Disneyland. You may approach to front desk or concierge for more information.
2) You may take a taxi. It will take you around 30-45 mins by taxi. Depends on the traffic.
3) You may take line 11 to Disneyland. It will take more than an hour because you need to take Line 2 and transfer at Jiangsu Road station.
Concur to other reviewers.
