The hotel is nice and good location. Closed the Metro station nr 1, 10,12. The room is big and comfort. The reception are friendly and helpful. The price is cheaper than others. Surrounding are full of restaurants and boutiques shops. The famous shopping street Huahai road is jus 5 minutes to walk.

Their listing on Agoda said the “executive room” we booked had 1 king bed and 2 single beds. As we were 3 adults, this was an important consideration for us in choosing the hotel. However, when we checked in, the room they gave us only had 2 single beds and 1 folding/extra bed. They said the listing was wrong and there is no such configuration in the whole hotel despite what the Agoda booking confirmation clearly said. Only after almost 1 hour of back and forth did they offer us a bigger room with 1 king bed and 1 folding/extra bed. (If you check Agoda listing now, the “executive room” has been updated to only say 1 king bed.) After all that, upon checkout, we were informed that we will no longer get back the 300RMB we paid as deposit without offering much of an explanation. We no longer contested this since we wanted to leave as soon as possible. On the whole, a stressful and disappointing experience at this hotel.

This hotel is a great deal RN, maybe because of Covid and not too many guests from abroad, one of the reasons we choose it that are not the price is that they have a complete Gym and a Pool that you can use, it's a fitness club that apparently runs independently but still, you can have a nice use of it. Others are just fine, nice bed, clean, location is also kind of central.

Calling itself a 4-star hotel (more like 4-stars in 1980 standard), I was very disappointed despite it was a short stay in Shanghai. From the reception, the lobby, to the room, the hotel is really dated as you can see hotel facilities are poorly managed and the light of the lift lobby is always dark with no light. Despite a non-smoking premise, there's strong cigarette smell in my room and the carpet is filthy with stains. And I can't even believe a business hotel in 2019 doesn't even have socket or charging dock for iPhone and usb. Being located in a prime location, the hotel need a complete makeover to match up with other international hotels in the same district and improve staff communication skill and service should they want to continue attract business traveller at the nearby Shanghai Exhibition Center. Avoid it if you want a good night sleep. Pro: Convenient. Close to the Jin'an Temple and the Shanghai Exhibition Center Cons: Plenty. Noise from next door and day time construction work.

I stayed there for 4 nights and found it to be an all around decent choice in a central location where nothing in particular stands out in a very positive or negative manner. The hotel staff were able to communicate in English, the rooms were clean and had an acceptable size, the WiFi connection was good and the breakfast in line with what you can expect in a 4-star hotel.

Hello I visited shanghai on june and i booked city hotel shanghai for 2 nights. At first, every one who wants to visit shanghai, intends to book a hotel in nanjing road east because its in the heart of the city, evry one awak till late, full of stores, no cars, people walking... But i should say that i will never regret booking city hotel shanghai which is located so near to nanjing road west...it was completely acceptable, quiet and comfortable with very friendly staff. And you should know that nanjing road west is more beautifull and in other word more luxury than the east one (in my opinion). You can find all brands, lots of restaurant and a very big starbucks in nanjing road west as well. But the hotels room and the breakfast is sooooo common.

I gym is really dirty. The floor and walls are all stained and it seems that nobody uses detergent or soap to clean the gym area. Also the men’s gym changing room is very filthy. Also most lockers are broken and the cleaners are just pushing dirt around without using detergent or a vacuum cleaner.

I originally booked this Hotel through Expedia as it ticked most of the boxes; free breakfast with room rate, swimming pool, fitness centre, and for the affordable room rate, not far from Metro stations: South Shaanxi Road (10 minutes) Huaihai Middle Road (7 mins) and Nanjing West Road (12 minutes) Pros: Nice location in a nice district of Shanghai with fashion shops, cafes, restaurants and craft beer bars plentiful. At least 3 metro stations on different lines in walking distance. Strong, Hot shower. Cons: Very disappointing buffet breakfast, not many choices, terrible coffee. If you want a real freshly ground espresso it's an extra 40 RMB! The beds are your typical Chinese rock-hard standard and do not cater for the feeble Western spine. Especially if you have chiropractic problems and not a side-sleeper. Something that the Hotel do not advertise is that if you want to use the pool and fitness center, they are not included in the standard room rate! it's actually 100 RMB extra to use the pool and fitness centre per use! They encourage you to upgrade to a deluxe room for 100 RMB extra per day for unlimited use if the pool and fitness centre. Swimming caps in the pool are also mandatory! if you haven't brought your own, they will happily supply you one for an extra 100 RMB! Furnishing, cupboards, shelving and carpet in room is all dated and in dire need of renovation. I could go on, but when you only have a 1500 character limit!?

There is 10-15 min to walk to the subway, but the hotel is located in a very nice area, so the walk is very nice. Beautiful streets here. The room is ok. The beds is the only really negativ thing here - they are extremely hard! Very helpfull staff. The breakfast is ok. Next time we will not pay for the breakfast here. But I could most definitely stay here again.
