Since 1929, the Fairmont Peace Hotel on the Bund boasts a history that overshadows any other Asian hotel. Its origins date back over a century, serving as a glamorous playground where every night was an extravagance. Each guestroom is an indulgent, exquisite, and modern experience. Its dining venues are the most prestigious on the Bund, with magnificent views of the Bund and Pudong skyline. European elegance defines The Cathay Room with terraces, while Chinese art and legend characterize the Shanghainese cuisine of the Dragon Phoenix. The Jasmine Lounge is famous for its high tea tradition, while the Jazz Bar faithfully continues a Shanghai institution: The world-famous Old Jazz Band. Consisting of six veteran musicians whose average age is 82, it has drawn an audience of locals, international travelers, celebrities, and heads of state, Clinton, Reagan, Obama, and Trudeau, to name a few. People come from all over the world for this unique experience. Not to be missed.

We stayed 4 nights total with Gold Lounge access. The Gold Lounge staff were outstanding and really took care in ensuring they knew our names and greeted us warmly every time we went up to the Lounge. It was nice to have our own private check in and check out on the 9th floor. Special thanks who made our stay enjoyable at the Gold Lounge: Gordon, Kevin, Melody, Marjory, Jin, Lance and Hyde (chef). Gordon was the first one to welcome us to the hotel and he was always so cheerful.
Leading up to my stay, I had several questions that the staff were very responsive to and helped ease my worries for transportation / trains etc.
Loved the smell of the hotel and the history of the hotel. We took the Peace Museum tour which was very informative. I can't remember the young lady that gave us the English tour; she was very nervous and sweet since she didn't think her English was sufficient but she did a fantastic job.
I rarely use the hotel shampoo and conditioner but the Rose 31 is fantastic! The breakfast buffet at the Jasmine Lounge was fantastic and had a very wide assortment of food to appease anyone. It was delicious! We enjoyed the Lounge for one breakfast (just to try it out) and the food was always fresh, afternoon tea and hor d'oeuvres (which was plenty to eat for dinner).
We never got to go to the Jazz Bar since the minimum spend was 300 CNY pp which I thought was pricey. Wish guests of the hotel didn't have the minimum spend requirement.
Location was fantastic, right across from the Bund so you can enjoy a nice walk along the river or Nanjing Road for shopping.
Can't wait to visit again!

Everything feels very comfortable and lives up to the name of a world-famous restaurant. When you come to Shanghai, you must come to experience the charm of Peace Hotel. The beauty of the building itself, the enthusiasm and professionalism of the staff. The warm reception from the staff from the moment you enter, and the cleaning staff's maintenance and cleaning can be seen to be very attentive. The afternoon tea at the Jinzun Lounge on the first day had more sweets, and the second day had a more balanced and salty menu, all of which were delicious. The two guys at the lounge entertained us very warmly. Since we were not familiar with Shanghai, we asked them about the place. They were very enthusiastic in helping us find the way and reminded us to take photos and write down the map and address. When we went to the lounge the next day, they were still concerned about whether we had found it. Even my daughter felt their enthusiasm. The staff at the concierge are also very professional. When I checked out, I didn’t know how to line up and responded immediately to the concierge. They helped us leave and get into a taxi until the moment we left, which was so considerate!

The Peace Hotel epitomizes timeless elegance with its flawless fusion of heritage and modernity. Service here is nothing short of extraordinary - staff anticipate needs with uncanny intuition, from the white-gloved doorman's warm welcome to the personalized concierge who remembers your preferred champagne brand. Lavish Art Deco interiors dazzle with lacquered screens and stained glass, while rooms cocoon guests in silk-draped luxury featuring marble baths and bespoke furnishings. The legendary Jazz Bar serves cocktails with century-old recipes, and the Michelin-starred dragon-phoenix embroidered restaurant delivers culinary theater. Every detail whispers exclusivity, from the golden turret silhouette against the Bund skyline to orchids refreshed thrice daily. A masterclass in discreet, intuitive luxury.

An absolute iconic hotel with a lot of character, wonderful caring employees and the best view you can have in Shanghai.
Staying at this hotel in Shanghai since more than 13 years and wouldn‘t stay anywhere else. The location of the hotel, at the best place of the Bund, is unbeatable.
All employees are extremely professional and friendly and try to read all your wishes from your eyes. Moreover the generosity to make available an early check-in after a long flight from Europe (in case that a room is indeed available) was wonderful. I also cannot thank the management enough that as loyal visitor we were granted a free drink in the iconic Jazz Bar of the hotel.
I can also highly recommend to take the daily 3 pm historic tour by Ms Hebe who explained very professionally the history of this wonderful hotel ans did a great guided tour through the hotel and restaurant rooms.
Can‘t wait to come back to Shanghai and stay at this unique hotel again.

My family stayed at the Fairmont Peace Hotel during Christmas 2024 and it was one of the most memorable stays we had.
We stayed in the Nine Nations French Suite, Chinese Suite and Gold Floor King Suite, and all the Suites were wonderful. Nine Nation Suites are quite spacious at 178sqm and uniquely designed with a strong sense of history pertaining to each nation. We particularly enjoyed the Chinese Suite given its lighter texture with an imperial dragon ceiling.
Food variety and quality at both the Jasmine Lounge (breakfast) and Fairmont Gold Lounge are very good. In particular, the Gold lounge mixes the afternoon tea and evening menu on a daily basis (e.g. Turkey for Xmas eve and Unagi on Xmas day).
The best part of our stay is really the quality of service that we received, mainly from the friendly team in the Fairmont Gold Lounge. Huge thanks to Scott for organising our suites, Nana for personally taking time to show us our rooms and taking photos for us, and Gordon for offering guidance on visiting the old jazz bar (we saw the special santa clause event because of him!) and taking photos for us despite it been windy and around 5 degrees at night. I felt like they are not just hotel assistant managers, but more like friends that will go above and beyond to make our stay so memorable.
The Fairmont Peace Hotel is not just a hotel, but also a museum. We took the daily tour and Hebe patiently provided an overtime 90min (it’s usually 60min) detailed guide of the Hotel. We highly recommend this tour as it added more flavour to our stay and provides a comprehensive taste of history.
Finally, I would like to say thank you to the Gold Lounge Assistant Managers Scott again for arranging a special farewell gift for us, and wish Nana all the very best for a new family member this month!
We will remember this stay forever and hope yo be back soon…

Nothing but praise for this hotel. From the staff to the location, everything about the Fairmont Peace is excellent. We only had two nights there en route to Hong Kong but it's location at the bottom of Nanjing Road where it meets The Bund is probably the best location in the City. Steeped in history (believe Charlie Chaplin and Noel Coward stayed there) it's a beautiful example of 1930's art deco, even boasting the first ever lift (elevator) in Shanghai. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast (whatever your taste) will not disappoint. Downstairs in the lobby is Victors, a fabulous coffee shop which will transport you back in time, but be warned.....its prices are very much London prices (and some), so cross the road to The Bund Underground Street where you can enjoy a bit of authentic street food for a fraction of the cost...! Thoroughly recommend.

Beautiful hotel. Perfectly preserved historic building, for guests there is a guided tour and it is very interesting. Styled rooms but functional and modern in terms of water and ambient temperature management. Superb service, customer focus (perfect Bill Lian). They gave us access to the lounge on the ninth floor where breakfast, afternoon tea and happy hour were served. Super central location, within walking distance of Yu mandarin garden, Pearl Tower and old town

My wife and I booked a Gold room for our wedding anniversary, and we were blown away by how well we were treated by Nana and all of the staff executive lounge staff. They went out of their way to make our stay and the occasion special for us, and we felt everything at this hotel was absolutely top notch!
The Fairmont is a big step up from other luxury hotels in Shanghai. The service throughout the premises is the most attentive and friendly we have seen at a big hotel in China, and the prime location, decor, and well-known history are added bonuses. We enjoyed a drink and watching the oldest jazz band at the bar downstairs, and had a nice dinner at Dragon Phoenix. We appreciated that you can enjoy a lively bar and a nice dinner without leaving the hotel; usually it’s difficult to get one of these during your stay.
We have stayed at other reputable hotels in Shanghai since the pandemic began, but we often find the facilities to be limited, the rooms slightly worn, and the food and service mediocre. However, the food both in the lounge and at the breakfast buffet was very fresh and varied during our stay at the Fairmont, and the room appeared to be meticulously maintained. If you are wanting a true 5-star experience, this hotel will definitely not disappoint. Thank you again for the memorable experience!

Having just spent the long weekend at this hotel, it is now my first choice upon future trips to Shanghai. Staff are super friendly, and their service is very genuine. Alexander and the doormen on Nanjing East Road are also most welcoming. The hotel has the best location to experience Shanghai, and the building itself is iconic. The building is beautiful and the original features are well maintained. It really makes you feel you are in the heart of the city. The room was very well laid out and comfortable, and staff are very accommodating at breakfast and can provide you with food which was not originally out as part of the buffet. That was really kind of them. I look forward to my next visit!

The check in was quick and efficient with English speaking staff. Our room was spacious, stylish and clean with a fruit platter to greet us and access to the club lounge on the 9th floor.
The club floor served very high quality appetizers which could be ordered with the waiter (not buffet style) along with wine, beer and soft drinks. The waiter Terence went out of his way to serve us.
The breakfast was amazing and the head chef Owen had an amazing overview of the restaurant and made sure to help any guest who looked like he was searching for something. Eric the waiter was very professional and attentive even though we arrived after breakfast was officially closed.
The concierge Alfred was also very friendly and knowledgeable. Spoke very well English and took very good care of us during our stay and all the way to check out and helping us to a taxi.

Hi
It is an excellent hotel - super location.
We got the train - very quick, travels over 400km an hour (7mins). We took a taxi from the train station.
Never used the swimming pool - contact the hotel - they were very helpful.
Enjoy
