This is a very nice hotel close to all of the high-end stores i.e. Prada, etc. The rooms are roomy and clean. The views from the room windows are very nice. Bathroom has both a tub and a shower stall. Restaurants are pricey in the hotel but just down the street are where local folks eat. Service is excellent and...

I normally stay at this hotel because of the proximity to my work office in P66. While a great hotel, it does show its age a bit. The lobby is quite small. The restaurants are way over priced. However, there are other choices right outside the hotel that are excellent. The service is just outstanding. From taking you to your...

When you hear Ritz Carleton, what comes to mind? Luxury, opulence, can't wait to open the door to see what is on the other side. The Ritz Carleton Shanghai, on a beautiful shopping street, the street was a glow with lights shaped like stars on the trees. Made it very festive. Nice located within walking distance to restaurants, cafes, bakeries,...

Right in the heart of Jing An district, so convenient to most places in Shanghai. I booked a suite, which was very large. The décor and furniture seemed a little dated. On the ground floor of the hotel complex there is a small mall with some good restaurants. Looks like the local wealthy folks hang out at them. The service...

We visited this hotel as a part of a Viking Cruise. The rooms met or exceeded our expectations and the service provided by reception and restaurants was excellent. As expected at this level of hotel, the breakfast was outstanding with Western, Chinese and Japanese foods. About 10-15 minute cab ride to the Bund for local sightseeing. The hotel has an...

This is very pricy hotel in the center of Shanghai, but honestly it is much overvalued! We paid about 400 per night, but the room cleanliness was much to be desired. On top of that, the room had some kind of unpleasant smell. We complained to the hotel staff, but nothing was done. If we ever travel in Shanghai, we...

Likes: Great Staff! Very Nice rooms. Good location. Problems: The online Ritz reservation system is not communicating with the hotel's system. Made changes and cancelled a room online but on check in, hotel did not hv changes. Staff took care of that smartly.

It feels like the Ritz Carlton standard isnt met at this hotel, it is not super maintained and partly not so clean, which bothered me the most. Significant improvements should be made to match my expectations, especially the quality of the bathrooms and the cleanliness.

Stayed in this hotel for 5D4N during our recent Shanghai trip. The selling point about this hotel is the strategic location which is in the heart of puxi and walking distance to the key shopping malls and near to the MRT. I must commend the hotel as we took a red eye flight (depart at 1am) from Singapore and reached...

Had a club room. Room was ok, clean with nice Asprey toiletries, limited channels on TV, and low water pressure for the shower. Service at the club level was great at the concierge desk - very helpful for folks like me who don't speak Chinese. The breakfast selection though is limited, and the staff have problem keeping up with the...

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
