The Hongta is part of the Marriott group and has a lovely executive lounge on the 40th floor that I was able to use. Tea was served in the afternoon and there was a happy hour in the afternoon/evening that was actually several hours and included enough food to make a full dinner meal.
Things that I really appreciated about the hotel were good communication in advance of my arrival and help in sorting out the metro lines. The Century Avenue metro stop where several lines converge is only about 5 minute's walk away.
Overall, the Hongta's good points make up for the location and the nearby metro station makes it easy and cheap to get around the city. I would consider staying there again.
They are going to renew soon, hoping the quality and cost still in the way of the future.
Since it is a hotel in the city, it has complete living functions such as dining and shopping.
The staff at the counter have a good service attitude, kindness and professionalism.
Looking at the decoration and furniture in the room, it feels like it has the flavor of old Shanghai. It must have been in business for a long time. For modern people who often use electronic devices, although the sockets are sufficient, USB charging is a device that uses an extension cord and is concentrated in one place.
The room is quite large, and the bathroom with a bathtub is relatively large. For environmental reasons, no disposable items are provided.
The TV channel selection is not too large, about 40, including several English channels and others from mainland China.
Due to the flight time, I didn’t have breakfast, so I can’t comment on the restaurant.
Generally clean but I did find some tidbit crumps on the carpet below the work desk area when we just checked in. The rate that I booked did not include breakfast and my Marriott Bonvoy Gold tier did not qualify for breakfast, however the reception lady pleasantly offered free breakfast stating because its our first time staying at this hotel. The breakfast did not live up to the luxury collection standard though.
It is located between 2 metro stations (pudian station and century avenue station). I would suggest walking from century avenue station as it is connected to century link mall and there are 4 different metro lines.
My stay last year was good, so I booked this hotel again this time when I came to Shanghai for an impromptu trip.
Although it is a single occupancy, the accessories in the room are still for 2 people.
The room is large in size, and so is the bathroom. In addition to shower facilities, there is also a bathtub. Those who like to take a bath are in luck! Although disposable supplies are not provided in the bathroom, you can still obtain them for free from the front desk if needed.
The lobby is spacious and the front desk staff are friendly, professional and courteous, which is worthy of praise.
The bedside electronic supplies charging device is very suitable for modern people who cannot live without 3C. It has 4 USB sockets and 2 power sockets, which is enough for use. In addition, other sockets are available.
There are many TV channels to choose from, with about 40 channels, about 10 overseas channels, and the rest are local channels in mainland China.
During my previous stay, I did not have breakfast due to flight time. This time we had enough time to have breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast is rich, including Chinese and Western dishes, noodle stalls and dim sum stalls. It is a pity that the juice is not freshly squeezed, otherwise it would be more perfect!
for some of their junior staff members to be better trained when it comes to customer service. Also, you need Alipay translate to communicate with staff members, which is actually quite common across China, so this didn’t impact my experience whatsoever. Overall a pleasant stay at a fair price.
