The location of this hostel is absolutely incredible, only around the corner from East Nanjing Rd Station (lines 2 & 10), meaning you're walking distance to East Nanjing rd, the bund, people's square, the old town and yuyuan gardens and bazaar. However, there were a couple of things that put me off the hostel. There were very loud rats (or...

Excellent location just off Nanjing Road, also within walking distance to subways. Rooms were clean but bathrooms were filthy in the evening. Would have been nice for a more livelier social area in the front room, but not many people hanging out in the social rooms but rather bedrooms. Absolutely fine for one night!

The security guard was so good to us. He gave us a local Insect repellent which worked wonders ! The hostel itself was very clean. It had a simple yet Modern decor. The staff were accomodating. The location was great and not too far from the city centre and sights. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I stayed in this hostel 6 nights. When I arrived early on morning after a night train, i had the worse welcoming ever in a hostel or in any other place. The guy named "Steeve" said me he couldn't be polite as it was too early morning!!? What? I work in hotel business industry and trust me, I would say...

This is a really nice, clean and conveniently located hostel. It is minutes away to Nanjing Road and the Bund and 5 minutes from the Metro. The rooms were in excellent condition, so everything is one big thumbs up! However, the wifi signal in the room was problematic and the service was horrible. The staff just made everything you asked...

The only really great thing about this hostel is the location. This couldnt be better! Nice and central. Further on, the rooms were fine. Beds are good, aircon is nice. Bathrooms are clean. Lockers available. And on the fifth floor we had wifi in the room. However... The staff is really unfriendly and not helpful at all. * do you...

Very chic youth hostel, clean, and just one minute walk from Nanjing East road subway station. Restaurants and Shopping places are just steps away. The Bund, People Square are also within walking distance. The hostel has a very cute yet cool cafe at downstair for you to relax a bit and plan your next trip.

Location: Excellent, right in the middle of the city, 5 minutes away from a metro, street food all around the block, decent restaurants around, in close proximity of shopping areas/touristy spots Atmosphere: It was alright.. the reception area is more like a restaurant setting, making it a bit more difficult to mingle with others, but there was still a cool...

It's located near the infamous Nanjing Road, just 5 minutes walk. The room size is okay for 6 people, and there is WiFi inside the room. From the entrance door there is a space for outside sink and separate toilet and bathroom, then there is another door to the beds. There is even an outside huge cozy bathroom in case...

Got there after asking a friend for recommendation. I went online to hostelworld.com but it said that it's all fully booked, so I just stopped by and asked if they have any spare beds and they did - so don't rely only on hostelworld if your'e nearby. Pros: Clean bathroom and shower, price, great wifi availability in every floor, free...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
