I booked this hotel as a last minute option as IBIS is a well know brand and I thought I would be assured a basic quality, I was sooo wrong. I was not welcomed upon my arrival. When I asked for a tourist map they only had a Chinese one. I was given a room with a dummy window that...

Room & bathroom were clean, plenty of space in both. On level 5 with city views which was very quiet so had great sleep. Location is great, 1 min walk to Yu Garden restaurants/shops & 10 mins walk to Yu Garden Metro Station. Close to the Bund as well. Free bottle of water provided & wifi connection was great. Couch...

Easy to find walking from the subway station (10 minute walk.) Yu Yuan and Shanghai Old Street are very close. I had an interior room with no window. I didn't care because I was only sleeping there, and it was nice and dark and quiet. The bed, however was hard as a rock. I found this to be the case...

When we first arrived I thought the area and hotel looked a bit gross, but after staying 4 nights, I would really reccommend this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, although we didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel due to its incredible location. We were able to walk to the nearest subway station, and from there...

I traveled with my parents this time to Shanghai and since we planned to visit Yu Garden and the Bund, then we choose to stay Ibis. The hotel is just few steps to Yu Garden and about 20mins walking distance to the Bund. A lovely stay in Shanghai.

I was abit hesitant to book, but trust that ibis will ensure it standard. We booked the business queen room, so there is a window, hair dryer, and standard sound proofing room. If u search at Agoda, there's difference in the amenities of the rooms you paid, whether have hair dryer. Rooms without windows are found in the centre core...

Choose this hotel because of the location - near tourist attractions. Front desk staff were friendly and always have us direction to where we want to go or what to eat. Room was equipped with the bare minimal (as per Ibis standard) but clean and comfortable I just don't like that the hotel allowed smoking. My room was stinky and...

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. Very unwelcoming atmosphere. We reached nearly mid night. We had to take our baggage by ourselves in the lift to our room though the person was seated next to the lift at the reception. The toilet door didn't have a latch and will open by itself. On reporting the reception said you...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Shanghai’s original walls live on in the curve of the streets that serve as the border to the old city. An aerial view shows a clear circular outline and parts of the original wall are preserved as monuments to the ancient past. The main tourist attraction of Yuyuan (which means Yu garden, though it is often redundantly referred to as Yuyuan Garden) draws hordes of tourists every day, but wandering the streets around the complex reveals more exciting attractions such as food and antique markets. There are also streets lined with shops peddling everyday wares such as Chinese dining ware and craft notions that can be even more enticing to visitors uninterested in the usual tourist fare.
