We checked into Sunrise on the Bund in the evening and were greeted kindly. The bellman immediately helped us from the car and escorted us into the grand lobby. Check in was efficient and we were sent to our room. The view during the lift ride up to the 18th floor was incredible! Our room was immaculate and more than...

Very nice hotel probably not the best location as it is not actually on the Bund proper and unless you are fit or have plenty of time it is too far to walk into town. Ferry across the river to the financial district is easy to use and at 2 yuan (25p) you can't be robbed. Plenty of towering buildings...

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and was very happy with the accommodation. The foyer and other areas in hotel are very opulent. Our room and bathroom was clean and spacious with all amenities provided. All staff we met were friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was an enjoyable start to our mornings. The Wi-Fi worked well in our...

Fabulous hotel, large rooms and brilliant bathrooms, with loos that wash and dry you!!!!!!!!!!!! good selection of restaurants with very good food. Even though you are in a very busy area, the rooms are quiet. Shanghai is the most amazing clean city and we felt very safe.

Very elegant lobby. Breakfast is personal in service, well prepared, with a waste choice and delicious. It is also quite comfortable to sit there, like in all other restaurants and bars. The gym is modern, the pool for sure not everybody’s style (but where in China is it different?), at least it is warm and well supervised (even if you...

I travelled a lot through China and this was the best hotel so far. Clean, neat rooms, fantastic view, comfortable beds and beddings, the best internet, little touches around that make you feel really well (like the lavender aroma, the spa, the kind and helpful devoted staff). All in this hotel is of a fine touch. Especially for the price.

This is a beautiful property. From the grandiose entry/staircase to the nicely sized rooms. Some of the rooms had hard wood floors, some carpet. Bathrooms were nice and spacious. A couple of the rooms with king sized beds had a deep clawfoot tub. Everything was very clean. Great breakfast buffet with lots of choices. Excellent view of the Oriental Pearl...

very spacious room with excellent facilities. The SPA is one of a kind. The stuff is very friendly and helpful and almost everyone speaks a bit of English. The front dest is very efficient and professional. The restaurants in the hotel are extremely expensive, but there are many groceries around where you can buy snawiches or ready made food.

My family and I stayed at Sunrise on the Bund for 2 nights and it was great. Room was small but very clean and modern. Bathroom was huge and nice and overall service was excellent! My sisters and I went to the spa and it was very nice and relaxing. We traveled throughout China and this was the best hotel...

The hotel is nice, very big luxuous bedroom and an amazing view on Pudong. It really worths the price. The quality of the service is great. They also have a nice swimming pool and spa. I was just a little bit disapointed with the breakfast and the food, it's not very tasty and quite expensive. The speed of the Wifi...

Staying in Hongkou

Neighbourhood Profile
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
