My three nieces, my brother and I stayed in three rooms for five nights here. This is a no frill hotel. Rooms are small but relatively clean. Attached bathrooms are small and just adequate. The good point about this hotel is its location. Times Square, Huaihai shopping street is just around the corner. Underground rapid transit station is two blocks...

The check in took forever as the lady couldn't decide whether my name was in the computer or not. Keep in mind we booked this place nearly a week ago. Just got into "non-smoking room" and it stinks of smoke. Had to open windows to get the smell out and even then that didn't help... This is quite horrible. Management...

Hotel is in a very good location, Dashijie metro station is just 5min walk. People's Square easily reachable 5-10min walk. No english spoken by staff, check-in/out operations sometimes not easy, expecially because of that crazy mechanism of the deposit that needs to be paid and will be refund. Breakfast was not included in my room, you get it with 28RMB,...

To keep it short, this hotel is a very good value for the money, metro station is very close-by, shopping malls are well within walking distance as well. Only hiccup for me is that I do not speak mandarin very much and I needed my significant other to translate or speak for me to the hotel staff. I do not...

Prior to coming to the hotel, we wanted to find out how to get there. The hotel is a little difficult to find in Google Maps (there are 2 but the other one is incorrect). The easiest way to get to the hotel from Pudong is via the metro or maglev-metro (if it's still open when you arrive). The nearest...

No English We booked this hotel in advance but the hotel cancelled our reservation because we came in late due to traffic. And so we ended up paying the published rate. Rooms are very basic, no luxury at all. Bathroom is small. You get what you pay for. Location is nice. 10 minutes walk to the metro station. 3 minutes...

The Junking Inn is a decent hotel for the price. The rooms are cleaned daily, bottled water left, tea and a teapot as well. The breakfast is halfway decent, just no variety and the coffee is machine-made. The staff is ok, well try to speak English, WiFi in the rooms, and near a great noodle place.

A neat little safe and comfortable hotel for budget travelers. Rooms are clean with attached wash room which are serviced daily. Laundry service is over night and a bit costly. Amenities are rather of minimum standard. Family mart and ATM are located nearby and at a walking distance. A higher floor is recommended. Metro line is within a couple of...

Service: The staff are fairly by-the-book, typical of larger hotel chains. Most are friendly and helpful, despite my broken mandarin. There was some confusion with the deposit and the elevator keys when one of the seemingly more senior staff was not as pleasant. Room: The room is spacious for the price, clean and comfortable. It is fairly well stocked with...

Stayed 1 night in this hotel but wished I could have stayed longer! Checked in past midnight but there were staff on one who processed my check-in very promptly. The room was very spacious and clean. The room had facilities like a water boiler and hairdryer too! Was expecting the bare minimum for the price I paid for the room....

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighbourhood Profile
Xintiandi
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
