Char Bar is awesome with the view and the drinks. Best view on the bund which can see all the charming Lujiazui. Thanks for the bartender Alonzo and Edward for their recommendation of offering me a well mixed cocktail and good service. When they knew I had a cold, Alonzo provide me a hot chocolate. So warm! Must visit. I...

Indigo on the bund is the best hotel to stay in Shanghai. Rooms are full of character, tailor decorated to make your stay unforgettable and special. Loved this beautiful hotel! We had a suite room which had simply stunning views at night of the buildings in Pudong all lit up. Absolutely gorgeous! The room itself had a fun design, nice living room area and a really comfortable bed. The best part (for a tub lover like me) was the bathroom with a beautiful tub, next to...

The Indigo hotel is an excellent hotel located right on the bund. Location is fantastic with good access to the bund, Yu Yuan gardens and cool docks area. Metro is about 15 mins walk. Rooms are very comfortable and nicely appointed. The Char bar on 30th floor is amazing with incredible views of the bund and Pudong skyline. Highly recommended

Location you can't beat. Our room overlooked the Shanghai skyline. The staff was also friendly and attentive, and our room was very nicely appointed. Sitting room and bathroom were both super nice and comfy. Taxis are always available outside, which is good because it's a bit of a hike to the nearest metro. Great place to stay if you want...

After staying 2 nights at the InterContiental Rujin, have stayed here for another two nights. You will see interesting design right after you entered the hotel lobby, such as rickshaw, bird cages etc. I was upgraded to the next category room where I could see the river (partial). During the day time, you wont say the view is fantastic, but...

The hotel is simply stunning and very well located. I had booked initially booked the 'Indigo Premier Room', however at check in I was offered an upgrade (at a cost of course). Once shown the 'Indigo Special View Room', well it would be rude not to, the view was irresistible, especially at night (I arrived around 8pm). The room itself...

Staying in South Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
South Bund
This waterfront area below the most famous section of the Huangpu River has undergone multiple phases of development that started when the Waterhouse Hotel opened its doors. Though it’s been slower to catch on than people expected, every year something new and exciting opens up and gives people a reason to keep calling the South Bund the "Next Big Thing." There are a couple of landmark hotels and restaurants of excellent quality that serve as anchors, and multiple annual events such as beer festivals, art and fashion fairs and music shows take advantage of the wide spaces, waterfront location and the tiny man-made beach to host huge crowds of people. Wandering about the newness, one can stumble upon authentic Chinese life in the stone gates of people’s residences or the street markets.
