Great location, if you need to fly or take the train every day. With a taxi, you need 20-35 minutes and the price is 40-60 RMB. I spent six days in the Hotel. I was most satisfied with the service of the staff at the reception. Very professional. Very good English language and communication. Comfortable rooms, and everything impeccably clean.

Was in town for work and decided to stay one night to avoid long travel. The room was not big but very functional. Bed was HUGE for the room, it was 2 meter by 2 meter and also a big window. Weather was not the best that morning, but I had my coffee by the window. Shower was great as well with good water pressure and the bathroom amenities smells like black tea! Lobby was very well designed with a lot of sitting area and great furniture. Over all it was a very comfy stay.

Thought we had a great deal. 4star hotel. But like everything you get what you paid for. Place was tough to find. Basically was inside a mall/office/parking complex. Not nice when you get back home late and everything is closed. The great. The price. Quite cheap value. Very modern. Everything works via iPad. Has everything you need. Next to a huge modern mall and metro station. So easy to find dining options. Downside. Tiny room. 1 big bed, but access from only 1 side of the bed. Not everything worked as advertised. Errors with lights, toilet to airco. Sucks. But biggest downside for me....bad breakfast. The mie was a joke. Not enough space to eat. Location was a bit in middle of no where.

I will go there If i have a trip to SH again. The Way to go the hotel is a bit tough, but it’s a cool and nice place to rest. Especially, you have to have the complimentary breakfast! Ah, there are convenience stores and shopping mall around it. It was useful for us.

We loved CitizenM Shanghai Hongqiao from the start. We received a super fast check-in, friendly service and found the room to be comfortable, clean, modern and in a great location. Alas! We won't be staying again for one reason only: the noise from other travellers in adjacent rooms and/or the hallway kept waking us up. If it wasn't for the hostel-level noise this CitizenM Shanghai Hongqiao would rate for us at a good 4-star or even 5-star level.

Wow! This hotel is an amazing find in Shanghai. I actually don't want to shout about it but I have to! I doubt there is a better value hotel in any major city in the world. Don't let the word "value" fool you though. The concept of this Dutch group is to provide small but very comfortable and functional rooms (super comfortable bed) but have a great break-out public area to work and play in, which they do. Each room has an iPad from which you can control everything from the mood-lighting to the temperature and the TV. The public space works really well with stylish high quality furniture and an eclectic decor that combines to achieve exactly what the owners want. I usually stay in 5 star properties with the big rooms, spas, gyms and pools that I never use. Didn't miss any of that one bit here! Location is Hongqiao and the Metro (about 20 to downtown) and a big shopping centre are just 5 mins walk. Last but definitely not least is the staff. They are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for them. I have to mention just three in particular. Jan, Daniel and Jamie. These three would be an asset to any hotel in the world. Lovely people and true professionals. So, it's a hard yes to the citizenM for me (but keep it quiet)!

Part of the wider network of Citizen M hotels - which i knew nothing about before this visit - and now would like to try them out! The automatic check in is new and i think would work well with experienced Citizen M customers. The hotel is fun and very different - a mixture of do it yourself, funky decor and pod style living. The bed was very comfortable and there are extra pillows under the bed. The shower was hot and strong and the WiFi acceptable - its always difficult in china as half your usual sites don't work - not the hotel's problem. It is next to a big mall which is great fun to wander around and people watch and at the bottom of the mall the second to last station on line 10 - Ziteng road. You must check on Line !0 trains that they are going on this spur and not the one to Hongqiao. I got there late at night 12h00 and the poor taxi driver really battled to find it as it is ON TOP of the center. I think its buillt over the subway line and shunting yard but you have to drive past the back of the shopping center (or in front) and go up ramps and follow signs for hotel - they are hard to see. Price wise paid RMB430 a night B and B which is not bad at all for what you get. Coffee was RMB20 - way cheaper than Starbucks and very good.
