Stay here last winter... the location quite good, around 10 min by walk to Subway Station and near with the bund. Hostel are a bit small and the lift is only until 3rd floor. So to go to my room at 4th floor, need to take stairs for 1 level. Room are clean and staff also fluent in english

The hostel is in a great location, very close to the Bund and Nanjing Road and the station. The staff were helpful and friendly. The reception area is very small and definitely needs to be bigger. There is also only 1 lift which takes you to 1 floor. Unlike other hostels that I have stayed in, there is not really a...

Cheap place and you get what you pay for. Location is good, very close to The Bund. Staff was nice and helpful. And we could do our own laudry at the place wich was great. Our room was a bit cold, as the window was leaking. The elevator a bit small, and the corridor a bit smelly sometimes. Otherwise it...

This hostel is a really good for the price. Non-smooking dorm-rooms, and with a common room to meet other backpackers. The location is very good. Close to the bund, and the Nanjing East Street. If you go during autumn/winter, the rooms might be a bit cold though. I was quite cold in the dorm room in late november.

The hostel was inexpensive and close to the metro and the bund. It was a little hard to find as it was in an alley of sorts. The bathroom was nice. And the in-room heating was nice as it was cold the day we arrived. The bed was extremely hard and the staff were not always friendly.

The hostel is easy to geto to from the underground. It is in a noisy street, but very lively especially at night, with street vendors selling interesting food. Staff speak English, and the room was comfortable but simple.

Spent a night in Shanghai and needed fairly central accomodation as needed to get up early and get Subway to Pudong the following morning. ..10 minutes walk from East Nanjing Road subway station. Don't expect much thrills and spills from this hotel.... it is a budget hotel for the non-fussy traveller!! The reception area is tiny... but don't let that...

Location and price are awesome! 5 min walk to The Bund in one direction and 8 min walk to East Nanjing Road Metro Station in other direction. I stayed in 10-bed dorm, which was basic (bunk beds and lockers)-but the dorms with less beds had private toilet and shower, and enough room for everyone and their luggage. Washers and dryers...

The Dock Bund is a no frills hostel. Excellent location next to "The Bund" for those awesome evening walks (or morning runs!) and Shanghai famous shopping district. I had a wonderful clean room, great wifi and the staff Dana and Jessica(although busy at times helping other people!) were very helpful with my first time in Shanghai... Great value for the...

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
