We stayed for 5 nights; although first & second night we have a room without city view but its still very comfortable. The rooms are very spacious, especially the bathroom which have a separate shower room, toilet and a very deep bath. Location of the hotel is super, just few meters from the Nanjing road, People's Park, Ruffles shopping mall...

If you don't like big chain hotels, this gem is well located, has style, provides excellent service and the room we had was one of the best we've experienced. Attention has been given to the last detail in terms of providing quality inclusions from towels, to beds and just about everything a traveller needs. All top quality and nothing tacky....

We stayed in Yangtze Boutique Hotel for 6 nights and wished for a family room because our teenager was travelling with us. Got a beautiful spacious room with a big terrace and a huge bathroom. ❤Our daughter slept in an extra bed (80 cm wide, just ok). The hotel itself is a wonderful art deco -style 1930's building with stylish...

We stayed at the Yangtze Boutique Hotel after a South China Sea cruise. Very nice hotel with bags of character and great staff. Large, well equipped rooms. We felt well looked after. Restaurant was weak, but many restaurants and cafes nearby. Just 30m from the Peoples Square Metro Station. Area felt very safe. I would definitely recommend it.

Really a 4.5* rating. Selected this hotel for location relative to cost - It's the bees knees - Close to the Bund, lots of shopping, easy transport links. For a hotel in the middle of a city of 26m people it really is bijoux and boutique! Yes there are hotels in town where you can dwell amongst the clouds, but...

I stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. What I loved from this hotel were: 1. Location.. 200m from Nanjing Road, 50m from Metro Entrance, 100m from People Square, Minimarkets are nearbies. 2. Staff were great, they help us a lot when our room is not as per what we ordered via 3rd party. It was solved within 30 mins!...

Don't be put off by the Three star rating by us. That's because this place is advertised as a luxury boutique hotel. Which it isn't. Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the center of Shanghai with endless flow of people, there is a place that could take you back to the 1930s to appreciate the golden age of Shanghai. That is The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai. The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai, an Art Deco masterpiece infused with gold age of Shanghai, owns the superior geographical position. Located in the People's Square, centre of Shanghai, the hotel enjoys convenient access to all parts of the city with the Shanghai Metro Lines 1/2/8 less than 30 meters from the hotel. Moreover, the hotel is bordered by major cultural and entertainment highlights within walking distance, such as Nanjing Pedestrian Road, People's Park, the Raffles City, the Shanghai Museum, and the Shanghai Grand Theatre. This hotel attracts guests with its private and graceful environment instead of the splendid and magnificent impression. The stained glass dome looks so gorgeous with carved staircase winding up. The candlelit crystal lighting collocates with palatial valance creating the elegant and sumptuous atmosphere. The unique collections displayed on the wall of guest room floor corridors, such as jewelry boxes, manual-shaving-hair tools, ancient door latch, traditional pipes, ladies' hand bags, Hawksbill needles, cookie boxes, etc, all tell guests the history of Shanghai. Entering each room, the song " Rose, Rose, I love you" reminds each guest of the prosperity of the old Shanghai with its sweet voice and nostalgia melody. Standing on the guest room private balcony, you could feel the quick pace of the modern city while retrospect the past good times at the same time.Yangtze Hotel, the predecessor of The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai, opened in 1934, owns 80 years of history. Decorated with lavish art deco style, this hotel was touted as "The Third Largest Hotel in the Far East" by the renowned architect, Li Pan. This hotel used to be a popular social resort gathered many celebrities and movie stars, and it was exactly the birthplace of the most classic and well-known song "Rose, Rose, I love you". In order to inherit this cultural heritage, Yangtze Boutique reserves this song as the background music in the room, and names one suit of room as "Rose Suite" to be one of the signature of the hotel, which becomes the favorites of many guests. Over the past 80 years, the Yangtze Hotel witnessed the ups and downs of Shanghai. In 2009, the Yangtze Hotel was renovated gorgeously and re-emerged in a great sumptuous way, reserving the classic Art Deco design style while mixing the 1930s old Shanghai style together. Just like the time flying back, The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai guides guests back to the glamorous and extravagant life in old Shanghai with great charm and elegant demeanor. ... more   less
