There is nothing what I can really complaint about except the breakfast, which is totally pathetic and pretty bad( thankfully there is a Starbucks around the corner). The rooms are huge, bathrooms are small, beds are kingsize and nice, but somehow there is nothing to really brag about and the whole atmosphere wasn t very inviting. Location is good and...

The location of the hotel is great, rooms are ok but that is basically the good thing about it. But the AC in the room cannot be adjusted. You can either chose to sleep in a fridge or turn it off. Hygiene is not very good, found a big bunch of hair in one of the towels. When I reported...

HoJo? You sure? Well, don't let its name gives you the halo effect of that kind of impression. Go in, check in, and stay. Then only you will realise, the halo will have to go. The room were very well designed and decorated. Very good bed and comfortable. Room service is great. Not going to comment on the food as...

Stayed here in Shanghai for business/leisure visit. The hotel itself was very clean and luxurious. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable regarding the local area. Room temperatures could be more easily controllable. The thermostat in the room did not appear to work properly. Great vertical iron though! Breakfast was great and offered both traditional Chinese and American options. The spa up...

This hotel made me realize how powerful old perceptions can be. I was expecting a budget hotel and was pleasantly surprised. Nice location for my work, quiet, solid breakfast and overall much more snazy than I expected.

I stayed here for 4 nights as i was offerd a good deal for central shanghai. The service was very good from the front desk to the restaurant. The room was nice, with a very comfortable bed and a good size bathroom. On the first night all was good as it was mild weather and i had no need for...

When I heard that my host had booked me into a Howard Johnson I wasn't expecting much. I was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived. It is a modern, very comfortable hotel. I was given a free upgrade to a suite which is very nice- very roomy, excellent bed- overall a great space. WIFI and wired access in the room...

after a long trip the only thing you long for is a hot shower, some peach and quit and a good bed. Well that's what this Hotel is offering you and for a good price. You're near one of the longest shoppingstreets, copymarket and a starbuck's round the corner. Life couldn't be better is you're a way from home.

I recently completed a 5 night stay here, having previously stayed once last year. The hotel's location is very good, across the street from Four Seasons and a 5 minute walk to Nanjing Lu, where there is a heavy concentration of restaurants and shops. They have now installed in-room wifi, which they did not have when I stayed last year....

This Howard Johnsons is not your normal US HoJo...very nice lobby, nice buffet resturant and very nice and clean rooms with their own slippers. Great location for shopping - internet in the rooms was very slow but better in the lobby.

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.

“There is a Starbucks on the ground floor which is very convenient BUT the star is the bakery around the corner - Remelt. Great baked goods and good coffee and tea. The breakfast was Y18 with coffee and 1 baked item (around $3 USD). Get a higher floor room if you can. Take the subway as it is only about 10 mins away.”
