This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are huge and spotlessly clean, we had a Premier Skyline View King Room which had great views over the river. Loads of little touches slippers, robes, great toiletries as you would expect. Had a meal in the bar and drinks, very reasonably priced and good service. They do an evening happy hour which is really good value. Perfect situated for the Pearl and many shops and restaurants nearby. Definitely would recommend

I was there for 4 nights and I have no complaints at all. Service was fast and efficient. Room was cleaned to high standards everyday and the concierge was attentive to my every request even past midnight. During my stay, I faced a problem and required to be updated after I leave the hotel. Not only did they follow up promptly via email they also gave me a satisfactory outcome. Despite many hotels around the area, we have absolutely no regrets choosing Grand Kempinski and will stay there again if we were to be there again.

We booked this last minute for a one night stay for a family birthday. We booked a club room and this included breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner with plenty gorgeous food. The staff we exceptional and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The pool and jacuzzi had views to die for !!! Plus a roof top bar with views of the Bund, live music and cocktails.
Our rooms had views of the Bund and excellent facilities. I didn’t want to leave!
What made this stay for us was the staff! We are already planning to come back. Extra thanks to Judith , Max and Amber!

I only stayed two nights thankfully. The room I had on the 9th floor had a very old and dirty carpet. I had to take all the towels in the bathroom and the bathrobes to try to cover the carpet so my bare feet would never touch it. The Havana bar on the 30th floor has a great view but zero ambiance. I was going to order a drink but the menu they handed me was so old and spoiled that it turned me off and I decided to suck it up and watch tv in my room and crack a Heineken. On checkout they did not ask me how my stay was but I mentioned the carpet after settling the bill.
The staff was friendly enough. The bed was comfortable and the view of the bund was nice.
The room rate was half that of the four seasons... but the hotel was not half as good.

We booked her for 4 nights. The carpet in the first room on the 19th floor we were allocated was stained and really dirty. After speaking to the manager we were moved to another room on the 11th floor (I think). Seemed ok. When we returned for a day of touring, the room was over 26 degrees (too hot for us) and smelt of sewage. The chamber maid had already reported this to reception, so when I went to reception for the second time, we again. Was moved. A larger room this time on the 12th floor and they offered free breakfast for the remainder two days. So…. Went to put the kids to bed, pulled back the covers and there on the bed was a disgusting stain (looked like blood).
I spoke to the general manager last night who offended me by saying the stain in the bed was fresh. I was very upset and felt very uncomfortable. I asked him to confirm his allegation and it seemed to me he was accusing me.
Not only has this experience of moving three times in 4 nights been very stressful and time consuming, I am discussed with the cleanliness. It has made me feel like all I want to do it go home. I was then further insulted this morning as the general manager asked if I would like a free meal or a spa treatment. I explained that what he had offered was not comparable to my experience.
The have requested a 50% refund but on reflection and how I’ve been made to feel 100% Is more just. The general manager this morning told me a refund is difficult as I booked through trip.com, then I was further insulted and offered a free meal or a spa treatment!
I’ve now contacted trip.com and they have agreed to support my refund request. Just waiting to hear and will update my post when I do!
24 hour Gym temperature is too hot, they switch the air con off at night (I only go to the gym after 11pm).
Positives, location as good connections to the metro, kids really enjoyed the pool, which was open until 10:30pm

Stayed for two night, had an absolutely fantastic, spacious room with river view. We booked executive one with lounge access, they are doing set meals now for happy hour and the food quality is just so-so (same goes to the breakfast on the 1st floor) But I would give five stars because of perfect, polite, fast and kind service we got from literally every staff in the hotel. Housekeeping is extremely efficient, cleaned our room to perfection every time we went out for a walk or lunch/dinner. The card says it was Amy, we never got to meet her, but I would love if the management can mention this to her. For example, we asked to have more water once we arrived and after that every time our room was cleaned she would place 6-8 extra bottles in our room. Small details makes all the difference! Club lounge staff is so polite and professional even more than some “big brands” out there in this area (talking about even ritz carlton). They have a bar on top floor (of course with great view from up there) and live singer, great experience! If they can improve the food quality and choices - it would be perfect place to stay for any occasion

My family and I visited Grand Kempinski Sh. for my birthday last weekend. What a great experience we had! The first good impression was the room -very spacious! The staff is very friendly and attentive, they had two bags with gifts for my daughters and set a cute dessert in my room to make my birthday even more special. Room service is also fast and efficient: our first dinner was ready in less than 30 mins.! The facilities are very well mantained, and I especially enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and the spa. The hotel has 4 different restaurants and for our stay we had time to enjoy 2 of them ;) For breakfast they offered buffet with a good mix of Chinese and Western cuisine (very nice Western section BTW & an extensive variety of dishes).

I highly recommend the Grand Kempinski in Shanghai for anyone looking for a special and custom experience. I had the idea to propose to my girlfriend in the Grand Kempinski in Lujiazui. Mark (the GM) helped set the plan in motion. Michelle and her team did an amazing job decorating the room. There were strategically placed rose pedals all over the room, handmade swans decorating the bed in addition to balloons everywhere and on the window. They even made a custom giant heart shaped cake. The scene was very romantic. Judith and the team helped on the execution to surprise my girlfriend and the proposal was a great success. Judith took care of us for our stay and her and her team went above and beyond to make our stay special. We even had a great room with a view of Huangpu River and the Bund! This is the best service I’ve experienced in a hotel anywhere in the world and it was a truly unforgettable experience.

Overall an extremely pleasant stay with an affordable price. Very value for money
Room and toilet was very clean. Bed was comfortable and hot water readily available in showers

We spent Christmas 2020 in Shanghai at the Grand Kempinski. Our stay was excellent every day. The staff are really friendly, always helpful, and when you need them they are eager to ensure visiting Shanghai becomes a memory to treasure. Customer Services Manager George helped us to book Christmas Eve at the Kempinski, a delicious buffet and fun evening all round as well as our trip to the Pearl of the Orient revolving restaurant which is just a short walk away. Also close there is a hop-on hop-off tour bus which we used with earphones and guided tour audio descriptions as well as a leafy riverside promenade and a ferry across to the Bund. The hotel has a pool, spa, afternoon tea lounge, Havana Bar, Spanish, Italian and Chinese restaurants and magnificent views onto the Huangpu River. Definitely worth booking a river view room. Above all, we wanted to relax. We live in China and could not go back to the UK this Christmas so we looked to Kempinski as a restful and enjoyable retreat. We have loved it and highly recommend.

In my room, the bathroom was excellent but there was no jacuzzi or spa bath. Best to ask the hotel if they have some rooms with a jacuzzi.
They do indeed, in the spa on the top floor. Fantastic views over to the Bund from the bar up there as well.

Since November 2016 all establishments, like hotels, restaurants, shopping malls had to ban smoking, and if caught there are fines for smoking in the public areas.
There are smokers corners everywhere, but also are not covered, as all covered spaces/ terraces are seen as "rooms".
Let me know if there are any other specific questions.
