Set on a coral and sand fringed atoll within a stunning marine sanctuary, Treasure Island is one of Fiji's most iconic resorts, with over 40 years' experience in providing hospitality and friendship to travellers from across the globe. The island caters especially to families, honeymooners and true romantics seeking a unique and unforgettable island holiday experience. Treasure Island is one of the only resorts in the Mamanuca Islands to offer same day transfers, which means that you arrive on our island paradise the same day you arrive in Fiji. Treasure Island is unique as our traditional land owners, the Nakelo Clan, own full 100% of the resort and members of the clan hold many key positions, so our team (or as they prefer to be called, hosts) have a vested interest in delivering a truly authentic Fijian experience. This genuine hospitality is contagious and the main reason we have so many return guests. In fact one couple has visited us 85 times! Why don't you come experience for yourself what is unique and special about our island paradise.

Be aware if the weather is bad you will be booked into a hotel on the mainland and will be expected to pay for the accommodation yourself to claim back from your travel agent. This happened to us to and from the island. Also add 750fjd for the trip each way to the island which they dont tell you until you check out. Stay was not too bad, but had to ask for shampoo and milk as they do not replenish anything when they clean the room.

Bula Vinaka So sorry to hear that yourstay was cut short by Cyclone Mal. Accomodation and transfers in cases like this is taken care of by the individual. The agent should have told you of the cost of the transfer for the water taxi at night. I do apologise for the non replenishing of the milk and shampoo and will speak to the housekeeper about it. Thank you for staying with us.

We stayed here with our adult children and grandchildren last week. Absolutely beautiful location and all amenities were all that we needed. The staff went above and beyond for our special birthdays and I will cherish for ever the memory of them all singing happy birthday to us. Our farewell evening is also a highlight, with us all joining in with the singing and dancing. The outlook from our Bure’s was simply breathtaking and the snorkeling was the best I’ve ever experienced. There were some things less than absolutely perfect but I believe it added to the natural charm of this place, and of course the beautiful Fijian people who have so little, but are always so happy and harmonious. Come to this island if you want peace, relaxation and fun and hopefully you will leave touched by the cheerful generosity Fijian people as we were.

Our first Fiji trip with a family of 5 plus 3 other groups in our overall party across 5 nights. Beautiful Bures overlooking the stunning ocean. Most outstanding snorkelling just steps from the beachfront. The wonderful Liz and friends who gave our children the time of their lives. Saki and the team who gave us a final night to remember with a delicious BBQ on the beach, beautiful songs and lots of laughs. Henry who cut up so many coconuts for our little people. The list goes on, I’m terrible with names but the people without question made this experience exceptional!! On a practical level, the rooms were lovely and serviced daily. The island is stunning and while a work in progress in some places, absolutely nothing that impacts your stay. Plenty of snorkels and kayaks to borrow. The BBQ and teppanyaki was divine. The rest of the food was good, a little slow at times but honestly added to the experience in the end, how bad can it be to sit back and enjoy time with your family over a drink in this piece of heaven. Honestly, we can’t wait to go back. Mr 14 “can we just do no other holidays throughout the year and only come back here”, Mr 5 “I’m not going home, I’m going to run away, stay here and eat coconuts”. We met some wonderful families on our trip and leave with lifelong memories. My tip to all, let go, surrender yourself to ‘Fiji time’ and enjoy!

The staff were amazing, friendly, and happy to help in any way they could, and I was so happy to be supporting the only resort and island that is 100% owned and operated by the traditional land owners - what a privilege! This is a simple resort, it is laid back and relaxed, and you can engage in the island activities to enrich your stay. If you are looking for a very commercial, busy, flamboyant resort then this is not the one for you, but if you are looking to relax, enjoy the natural beauty of Fiji, learn the culture, and connect with genuine Fijian locals then you will love this place as much as I did. It is important to be aware of the limitations of an isolated island, for example the food may not always match what is on the menu and is dependent on shipments coming in, however, this did not phase me and had a minimal impact on my trip.

We had an infant with us and wanted to stay here so that we could go snorkelling around the island without any day trips. Overall, it was a nice stay with a few low points though. SNORKELLING The island is surrounded by beautiful reefs, but you do need to know how to get to them as will need to swim a little. On a few days, one side of the beach was windy, so we went to the other side and worked out that entering the water from bures 24/25 was where we could access some nice coral reefs and beautiful snorkelling. Also note that it is highly recommended to snorkel at high tide as its hard to swim to certain areas at low tide. On another day on the other side (dive shop side), we saw the shadow of a turtle that quickly whizzed past us but that was it. Seemed like a rather young, flighty turtle. We hadn't quite figured out the best way to enter the water for this side since it was only clear and calm for us on one day of our stay. We had heard that you could take a kayak to the sandbar and the snorkelling from there is quite nice. Take the fish feeding boat out in the mornings and snorkel in that area - it is much easier than snorkelling out yourself and very easily accessible. ACTIVITIES Kayaks and snorkel gear were in good shape. I also saw a couple take out the jet ski when on the island, so looks like it was working. Kayaks were easy to rent as well and free, which I really liked. The mini golf course on the island didn't look that exciting and needed a lot of repairs. Loved the hammocks. Night performances and dance were fun. FOOD Our favourites were the curry of the day and waitui roast (chicken). The beef however tasted dry and overcooked (only exceptions were the beef burger at lunch one time and teppanyaki - which was great. I would avoid the steaks and meatballs at all costs). The fish entrees were a bit inconsistent. We had an amazing tuna tartare the first night but the next night, it tasted overcooked. Breakfast was nice. Our meal plan included hot breakfasts (phew!). There was a nice spread of fresh fruits such as pawpaw, watermelon, pineapple, bananas for breakfast. With an infant, it was easy for us to order scrambled eggs without any salt for them and feed them fruit and bread/ toast. The wait times is as the other reviewers said - it would consistently take 1 - 1.5 hours for your food to be served (especially during dinner), though they do serve kids meals much quicker than the adult meals thankfully, so our infant didnt need to starve. I actually liked the kids meal spaghetti bolognaise much more than the adult meatball spaghetti. STAFF Staff were amazing, smiles all throughout the island. Reception was friendly as well and was quick to solve any problems we had. Eg. We had booked a babysitter but didn't show up in 20 minutes of the booked time. ROOMS Rooms were very clean, bathrooms did feel rather closed and damp but still okay. Beds were high and very comfortable. Mosquitoes on the island - make sure to bring insect repellant. Would have been nice if windows had fly screens because we would want to open the windows/vents to air out the bathroom, but at the same time, too scared to let that insects would get into the room. Air conditioning in the bures were great and worked great. Black out curtains were also there which helps when you have an infants that needs a dim room to take naps. ISLANDS GROUNDS It is true that there are tree roots on the ground sometimes etc, but we are still young and mobile, so wasn't really a problem for us. There are parts of the island with things under construction that did look a bit unsightly, but we were there for the beach and ocean so didn't really pay it to mind. WI-FI Don't expect much from the wi-fi, incredibly slow at dinner time and one night didn't work entirely. Nakelo Treasure Island is locally owned, and whilst not a perfect 4 star (probably more 3 stars) - you can make it more comfortable for yourself by setting your expectations around timings for food orders, ordering the good dishes, not expecting much with wi fi and enjoying what the island has to offer.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The Good. Only 25 mins boat ride from the mainland. Amazing views from all around the island (similar to all the other islands), huge decking area around the pool and restaurant/bar, again with amazing views. Daily kids club and events listed on chalk board, crazy golf, turtle sanctuary, on island spa. The pool, whilst not large, is a reasonable size and in good condition, again with amazing views. Rooms are spaciousness, 24/7 electricity, running water, all have air-con etc. Hammocks and loungers all around the island mostly in good condition. Tennis, water sports equipment available and in good condition, snorkelling available around the island. Customer staff are happy and helpful. The grounds offer plenty of shade and the grounds team work hard to remove leaves from grass areas, housekeeping every day. Luggage carried to and from your rooms and off and on transfer boats. Surprisingly large selection of breads available for breakfast. The Bad. The resort is not 5/4 Star; I would say a 3 star. The resort needs investment and is ageing. Yes, I understand it’s an island, but the website pictures don’t match what you will find on the island anymore. Not all promised facilities were available, no Jet skis or banana boat according to the sports people. Learn to dive pool was empty. Wi-Fi was very intermittent and only available around reception. Some scheduled events just didn’t happen even when you are waiting in the correct area. No management drinks and some cultural events and kids activities just didn’t happen, no reason or notice given. Sinks in the public toilets just don’t get cleaned ever, not sure why. The snorkelling is ok but not great, even when you swim out into deeper water. Yes, you will see some fish and coral, even in deeper water you will see damaged coral from boats and anchors. The swimming pool water was very milky, you couldn’t see the bottom of the pool and had algae growing on the side of the pool. They have the equipment to clean the pool on site…. Foot paths around the island need to be repaired, you need to be alert not to trip especially at night, recommend you take a torch when walking at night. The Ugly. Food quality is very hit and miss, buffet is ok but often missing items such as milk for breakfast. The quality of ordered food can be good, often poor. Very often the food is under cooked eg, Raw burgers, chips and very often cold (not a fan of cold roast chicken). None of the food looked like the pictures on the website. It’s not unusual for ordered food to take 1 to 1.5 hours to arrive at your table, even after waiting 20-30 mins to get your food ordered, some food just doesn’t arrive. It was the main talking point from other guests. The food issue is not a new problem, it’s been ongoing for some time, just check the older reviews. I spoke to one of the executive managers, he said he would speak to the staff, just like other reviews. But based on previous reviews, I’m not confident that anything will change. The executive manager just blanked me for the rest of my stay, no discount or feedback. Tourists just keep coming to the resort, therefore no need to make any changes or uplift their game. OH&S, Many of the air conditioners are missing covers for their electrical panels, meaning its easy for anyone to put their figures in an get electrocuted. Aircon units are on ground level, meaning kids can put in their figures. Some machinery and disused equipment just left out in the open near the kid’s club and tennis courts.

I loved our 5 nights at Treasure Island. Quite basic and clean accomodation. The boys (9) & (14) really embraced the Fiji culture and enjoyed all the activities, especially joining in the Seagull & bulla dancing in the evening. The 14 year old was taught fishing by the locals from the beach technique early (5.00 am) each morning and caught a few Trevally. The lunch & evening meals can be a bit repetitive, but the breakfast menu is great and breads & croissants which they cook themselves are very nice. I would definately go back sometime.

This place is rustic. Owned by a local tribe. Very big and lots of people, great and welcoming for kids. Do NOT recommend for couples or solo or group “nice” vacation. As far as nature- it’s minimal. The reef is very bare. If you’re looking for fish, go up to Yasawa Islands on the Ferry. Go to Mantaray Island Resort, Barefoot Mana, Octopus, or other places good for snorkeling. Anywhere near Nadi is limited in underwater. The turtles are kept in two enclosures. It’s a good rehab program, but nothing special. You’ll see them in the wild up in the Yasawa islands. They have “fish feeding” each day. They feed them bread which makes them diabetic. It’s not good for the fish but they do it for the tourists. I don’t like that. The buffet is basic with three meats and rice and potatoes and pasta for $60 fjd. Choose something off the menu and you’ll pay slightly less and have much better flavors. The grounds are rustic to say it nicely. The beach is lovely and safe. Overall the place is good for families with young kids. Older kids over 10 will likely enjoy the islands more. The staff is friendly. Not worth anywhere near $200 usd, let alone over $300 a night. Pay to go elsewhere.

It really saddens me to write this as the people who work here are absolutely fantastic and it is not their fault, i went here 20 years ago and have always told people how much i loved Fiji we had the best time and Fiji was in my top 5 places i had visited, I met my now fiancé here which whom i proposed to last week in front of a beautiful sunset which will remain in my heart forever, but the food here unfortunately is just disgusting now and it tainted what was meant to be a really special occasion, it is barely edible and for the price you pay it is almost criminal, they constantly ran out of items and wait times were ridiculous especially with a little one(can be looked past if the food was decent), the buffet breakfast was horrible (did not include eggs, bacon, hash browns etc) and the extra hot breakfast you had to purchase was of the poorest standard i have ever seen, steak sandwich was a terrible soggy roll with what looked like a tiny piece of the cheapest steak available, the burger was horrible, the “gourmet” barbecue meat was of the lowest quality and was just chewy and gristle, I did promise the manager I wouldn't leave a bad review because he did give us a 10% discount, but he didn’t seem to think there was an issue which was most worrying because without negative reviews nothing will ever be addressed and I can’t let other people ruin their holiday over the fact they cannot eat a decent meal. We in the end made day trips to other islands just to have lunch such as malamala which is 15 mins away and food was great so it isn't a location issue. Positives - Teppanyaki and Biss’ bread rolls are great, without him this place would go out of business. Toddler loved it and all the other kids were great with him and he had the time of his life. Emma was a fantastic baby sitter. Waiters and staff are amazing and super friendly - Paul, Jerry, Ice(activities) Biss, Henry, Emma (baby sitter) etc etc were all doing their best. (sorry if I forgot some names as not all wear name tags) We really loved the singing and dancing every night and there was a different game to be played after. You can tell the staff care about you and if you are happy or not and it was hard to pretend we were as they are so accomodating. Sunset and views are truly incredible. I beg management and Nakelo clan to please bring in a proper chef to address the food issues and bring this place to what it once was, until then i wont be visiting and strongly advise others not to go here.

Returned just yesterday from our first ever Fiji holiday where we were lucky enough to stay at Treasure Island. I was a bit worried before going because of some of the online reviews, however this was all unfounded. The natural environment is definitely the star of the show. Walking straight from our bure to the ocean to snorkel on the reef was absolutely amazing. Lots of sealife to be seen just on the waters edge as well, so beach combing was also a highlight. Turtle, iguana and fish feeding were daily highlights, and the turtle release while we were there was incredible. Room was much larger than expected based on comments online, and was cleaned daily. Grounds do need a bit of work, but can see what has already been done following the cyclone, and talking to staff they have much more planned. The groundskeepers were also fantastic with the kids - always happy to crack open a coconut on request. Food was a bit monotonous after a few days, but we had sufficient to eat and no concerns regarding hygiene. (Yes there are lots of flies, but buffet food was covered unless guests were too lazy to put the covers back on after serving themselves). A la carte menu service was slow, but ourselves and many other families present simply used this time to play card games. Meal times were often the only time we saw the kids all day as they were so busy with just enjoying all the island had to offer, or just enjoying nature play at it’s best, so we didn’t mind slowing down and waiting for the food. Finally, the staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Sure, there are some practices which could do with some efficiency improvements, but these didn’t detract from our stay. Kids are already asking to return next year.
