The great experience started with arriving at the resort escorted by the Fijian warriors from the water (truly a nice touch). Location is just breath taking with a beautiful white sandy beach with lots of coconut palms providing shade to relax. All the staff are just amazing, always smiling and ensuring that your stay is as comfortable as it can be. one of the best staffs at any resort in Fiji. Not forgetting the very talented Chefs they have the food is just full of flavors,just pick anything from the menu, you will not be disappointed
If you are going to visit the island be sure to take your hiking shoes, take the bush walk to the top of the island, it is a bit of a hike but the view from the top is breath taking. Also be sure to book in for the dolphin tour, it is a great experience seeing them in their natural environment up close and personal.
Can not praise this resort and staff enough. Would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to escape their daily life and just enjoy the peace and relaxation the resort has to offer

We did our research on trip advisor prior to our booking and requested our preferred location of bure in the complex. This was honoured by Castaway which we were very pleased.
The South Beach side picks up a wind in the afternoon and the Bures are set back from the beach so highly recommend the North Beach side if you want to be beach front.
Pools are lovely and clean, bar food at poolside is OK but limited menu and quality can be a little hit and miss. I experienced a chicken burger that was tough as boots. Couldn't continue to eat it. Food and beverage is expensive but the same in every Fiji resort.
Buffet at main restaurant was excellent quality, different themes each day so it doesnt get boring. Pizza restaurant on sundeck is also nice.
Staff around the resort were very friendly and helpful. Especially our Nanny Mela, she was lovely with our kids so we employed her twice so we could enjoy snorkeling and a trip to Cloud 9. Well worth a visit. The resort trys to place you with the same Nanny for the duration of your stay which is great for the children to feel comfortable.
The small shop is good for swimwear, few pool accessories and essential grocery items, with children it's always best to travel with lots of snacks from home.

Yes, this can be quite a challenge for the resort at times but we will do all possible to allocate as requested. The trade winds in our part of the Pacific is the South Easterly winds and when it does blow in, the South beach gets windy, however it does keep a hot day reasonably cool. Thank you for appreciating our buffet and pizzas cuisine offerings. I will share your comments with with our chef but most importantly relating to your chicken burger experience at the Nuku Marau Bar & Grill. My daughter and I were traveling to Australia and decided to spend a few days in Fiji.
Everyone who works there welcomes you with “bula” and a smile. Some even greet you by name. We we there for four relaxing nights.
We booked a garden room and I was disappointed that we were given the furthest room, even the staff mentioned how far away we were from everything. While in our room we observed staff members constantly leaving and arriving. It would have been nice to have a better location. I regret I didn’t ask for another bure, but we were exhausted from our flight from CA. The rooms were clean although I felt uncomfortable in the shower. The tiles were a bit slippery, a rail would have been helpful.
They offered a variety of food options, we only used the buffet for breakfast. The cocktails were refreshing and delicious.
The hotel caters to families, children can swim in the adult pool if with an adult. We observed some children in the kid’s club all day.
The island is unbelievably beautiful.

Just returned from a wonderful 5 night stay in an ocean view bure. Our family of 4 with children aged 11 and 14 had a fabulous time. There is something for everyone. The snorkelling off north beach was magnificent and easy for the whole family. We spent hours every day just swimming and enjoying the view. The kids loved the quiet pool.
The bure was well set up for 4 people with effective air con, a large bathroom, comfortable beds, plunger coffee and two washing lines which is missing in so many resorts.
We enjoyed the food and the kids found there was always something they liked. They loved choosing from the buffet. We pre-paid for our meals and would do that again. It was nice to have the freedom to order what we liked without thinking about the cost.
The staff are very welcoming and make every effort to get to know you by name. The staff in the shop especially! We were well looked after in the restaurant by Ringi who went the extra mile for us at every opportunity. We found her to be very attentive and caring and all loved her!
The staff made a huge effort to celebrate Australia Day with themed food and activities. Most of the guests are Australian.
Highly recommend for a relaxing family holiday. Young children are so well catered for in the kids club, at the kids pool and with an early dinner. I don’t think that people travelling without children should be put off by the number of children as they are busy doing their own thing!
Minor suggestions for improvement include a few more wine options by the glass, more regular opportunities to order drinks at north beach and availability of beach towels at the beach rather than having to go to the laundry which is a bit of a walk in the heat when the beach is just a few metres from the bure.
We used the Mamanuca express water taxi which gave us flexibility to arrive and depart when it suited us. It included hotel pickup from the Gateway Hotel by the airport.

With the local rate ($300 per night) husband and I decided to jump in on the chance to visit a resort we could only dream of visiting pre-Covid era. Staff were extremely accommodating from the day we made our booking. Pau arranged for us a convenient time for our boat transfer and upon our request booked us the bure closest to the beach. The friendly sounds from the welcome songs reached us before guests could get off the boat. Each guest were greeted and welcomed “home” ❤️. The weather, the hospitality, the pristine waters, the laid back island lifestyle, everything was just perfect. The only drawback was the food, which didn’t have much taste and some portions were extremely small, they need to improve on that. Mesi, the waiting staff is an absolute delight. We loved being served by him at every meal time. The cocktails were all very good. Ben is another amazing human in the water activities department. Activities I highly recommend are the banana ride (cheaply priced for locals), Hobie Cat ride, snorkeling, kayaking and if you are a nature lover like me then pack your running shoes and try the bush walk. The views from the lookout are breathtaking. Star gazing was one of the highlights for us also. The clear island skies without any obstruction from city lights showed the brilliance of the cosmic. If I’m not mistaken then you can even see the Milky Way! This was indeed an unforgettable trip for us and we do have plans to return soon, hopefully for longer the next time.

This was our 6th trip to Castaway and this trip was just as memorable. As always, the team there are amazing, fun, friendly and so helpful. Our bure (no 6) was sparkling clean and just a few steps to the beach. We did multiple scuba dives and found the fish life and coral were looking pretty good. The dive and boat team were detailed and knowledgeable on each of the trips, and our dive gear was well maintained. We spent lots of time at the Sundowner bar which has a relaxed vibe, good music, great cocktails and pizzas. Cant wait to head back again!

Staff go above and beyond to make your stay special and to accomodate any request you have. Along with the beautiful views and food, there isn’t a bad thing to say about the island. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day and you could hardly notice the other guests around.

I am a month late with my review because I procrastinate a lot but there is noway in this world I wouldn’t post a review for this amazing little island.
We were a group of 20 friends who decided to take advantage of their specials! From the get go, Kesaia hd been nothing short of amazing. 10/10 for communication, flexibility and turn around time. She was so welcoming and kind to our group, it had already set the tone for our visit before we even got there.
It still feels like a dream to us. The fishing trip, delicious food, free use of facilities and kayaks, banana boat ride is highly recommended ( we went twice), the massage that most of us still haven’t gotten over and the friendly bula smile that was visible throughout our stay.
If you go to Castaway, be sure to look out for Mesake, Sikieli, Kesa, Ben (watersports coordinator), James, Saiasi, Atu, Greg, Josh and iliano. The fact that we remember their names is only a testament of how great their service was.
There is literally not a single thing to complaint about. Food was affordable and quantity was just perfect with most meals costing 10-25$, reasonably priced massages for the masseurs that are definitely amazing at the work they do. Can’t wait to go back!

We originally planned to stay for 4 nights over Xmas 2019 but due to hurricane, our stay was extended to almost a week to almost New year. Couldn't ask for a safer shelter during hurricane. All staffs including managers went above and beyond to ensure we are well-looked after. Before the hurricane, it was a beautiful happy island with friendly staffs, sandy beaches, excellent snorkeling and diving, colorful coral. Overall a memorable stay for us! A great place for family although we traveled as couples. Coming from Europe, most of the guests are from Australia and New Zealand, we did feel welcome!

They have gluten free pizza bases in pizza bar, and bread and few muffins, gluten free cornflakes for breakfast . But you can ask the chef for food allergies I did not order from buffa for this reason I order food from menu :)
