Mana Island Resort & Spa – Fiji presents a varied experience for its guests, with its atmosphere drawing both admiration for its vibrant evening entertainment and critique for a lack of ambiance. Patrons enjoy a diverse array of amenities, although some have noted they could benefit from refurbishment. The staff's friendliness is a highlight, despite occasional service delays. Room cleanliness receives mixed reviews, with some areas needing attention. Guests are torn on value, appreciating deals but questioning the cost given the property's condition. The rooms offer basic comfort with the bonus of beachfront charm.

We had a great stay at Mana Island, I would recommend this resort. The island is perfectly positioned so you can have a calm beach regardless of the wind direction. Snorkeling was great. The food was of a good standard for the Fiji Islands.
Disappointing was the one and half hour check in process. The resort knows how many people are arriving on the ferry, so why only have one person on the desk checking people in?? Could have been handled so much better.
The lack of atmosphere at dinner time was to me the biggest disappointment. There was no music on in the restaurant and no local Fijians playing guitar to lift the atmosphere. If we were lucky, the bar on the other side of the pool might have some music playing, if not you just have to listen to plates scraping and table chatter. They do have locals playing music as you arrive on the ferry, savory it as it will be the only 2 mins you will hear until you leave! This is highly unusual for the islands where we have always found entertainment at dinner time. These are the only 2 faults that reduce my rating from 5 to 4 stars.
They did have some music on later on in the evenings if you wanted to stay up for it. But not for anyone with kids who need to get to bed.
Would come again though, hope to hear music next time.

Mana Island itself is both beautiful and has a wonderful layout with beaches on both sides being very close and a small hill that provides excellent views. The island is also well located to the mainland, is surrounded by a coral reef which is usually amazing (it was hit by bad storms and a bleaching event but is coming back) and the resort is spacious and well set out.

The issue is that the owners have neglected to maintain the resort to a level that it requires. Things that really matter generally work (A/C, hot water, etc.) but there are a bunch of problems that really add up. Things such as the lino on the floors of the bures lifting and becoming broken (so you trip on it!), there are wires sticking out without lights, the lights in the pool don't affix inside so many are resting on the edge, the deck in the adults pool is lifting badly and is frankly a little dangerous, the paths have been patched but very poorly, bar areas are tatty and falling apart a little, etc., etc.

We had a wonderful time as we had a pool and family to enjoy and we were mostly aware but we were still a little saddened that that it had been allowed to get this bad (we had been there 8 years prior). Note that this is not a COVID thing, we since spoke to someone who was there in 2018 and had the same feedback.

One thing that is wonderful is the people. They are absolutely lovely and they generally do their best with the resources they have to keep things in as best condition as they can (the gardens were mostly lovely, the grass raked of leaves and mowed, etc.). For those things out of their control that require actual investment, there is little that they can do.

Our other gripe would be the buffet lunch and dinner. Although you generally don't go to the islands for the food, it was the cost compared to what was offered. We went to he buffer for our first dinner and it was terrible and very expensive. We spent $80 (FJD) and each probably ate a meal worth $30 (FJD) as the selection was pitiful and tasteless. After that we stuck to à la carte which was much, much better. The breakfast buffet was, however, fine with everything that you would expect.

Sadly, I cannot recommend Mana Island Resort in its current state. You can find much better elsewhere and if you need to pay a small amount (and it's not much) more, it will be well worth it. It pains me as it has so much promise but if the owner won't invest some money on keeping it in a good state then we should not be spending our money on staying there.

The best thing for Mana Island Resort would be for someone else to buy it and invest what it needs to get it to where it deserves to be. If that happens I will be back in a heat beat but until then, no way. We have already tentatively booked for next year and it's not at Mana Island Resort.

Firstly I need to say that the staff were lovely and the location of the island was stunning! However the resort is very run down, tired and in desperate need of a facelift.

Spent 7 nights in a "deluxe bure" 23-30th Dec. When will arrived at the resort my heart sank.....from photos I had seen on luxury escapes it looked amazing, I was very disappointed and was wondering how the holiday would unfold. Our accomodation was basic, when we arrived our accommodation had a very dirty floor, the bathroom was in poor repair (fan /vent jamming) the beds were ok, the air con struggled to cool down the room. It was adequate for our stay but certainly not luxurious.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was ok. Nothing out of this world. By the end of the stay I had exhausted the menu. We did have a lovely Christmas buffet dinner which was good value for money. The christmas atmosphere was very lacking and rather disappointing. There are apparently 5 restaurants on the island. We saw three. One was an adult only venue on the opposite side of the island so we didn't bother making the long walk over to try it. The main dinning all (bright lights, little atmosphere, terrible xmas decorations) was where we ate all meals, and there was a teppanyaki room near the bar which we only discovered accidentally but didn't dine at. The pool bar had a happy hour which had one staff member usually trying to cope with a line of people and drinks being made on "fiji time" so we didn't make a point of trying to get to happy hour.

The snorkelling on the protected side of the island was beautiful. The family spend majority of each day here under the palm trees, in and out of the water. There was a bar there, again with slow service.

There was a lack of beach furniture around the pool area (and little shade) and also at the snorkelling beach you needed to get there early to "bags" your furniture. The furniture the was there was broken and in a poor state.

I would go back to the island in a heart beat. I would probably not go back to the resort as I am at a stage in my life where I really don't want "back packer" style accomodation, when I go away I like a little luxury. The visitors to the island were mixed in terms of age and families. Probably great for a first trip O/S with young kids. Next time in Fiji I will be reading all reviews very thoroughly and not just taking the word of a travel company.

It breaks my heart as I have been to this place before and know how good it can be but bottom line is staffing levels are at 50% due to COVID and the resort is rundown but owners/ management are still trying to fill the resort and sell it as 4 Star.

If you ask me if I had a good time the answer is "Yes!". The location is still beautiful and if you have oodles of patience and consciously decide to be forgiving you will have a good time. I don't think I would have handled it if my kids were little. Our kids are 11 and 12 so playing cards while you wait for food and drinks to arrive is easy. And we just swam, lay in the sun, read books and snorkeled. We all had a great time and came back refreshed.

If you asked me if I would recommend it the answer is "No."

Mana Island is trying to recover from the pandemic clearly. Staff are completely overwhelmed and stressed and in my opinion pushing s#!* uphill to try to give the level of service required. The managers/ owners need to get in there and support them and be honest and realistic about what the resort can and can't offer.

Do not believe the photo's you see online of the buildings and bures. They must have been taken 20 years ago when the buildings and furniture were new. Our furniture would not be out of place in a student flat in Dunedin. It is 3 Star at best.

The poor people who work there are never going to succeed there are simply too many of us and not enough of them. So the result is slow service with errors being made. The buffet is underwhelming and over priced. Housekeeping is rostered so your room will only be serviced once in your 7 day stay. We did request an extra service which housekeeping did do but other guests were not successful in getting this.

I would like to see this place recover but it is being let down by poor business management.

The other reviews on this page since 20 July are reasonable. This place is tired.

When we arrived, the water desalination plant had FAILED yet they were still serving salt water. At the buffet breakfast every table just had full cups of coffee, demonstrating everyone had taken a sip and not been able to stomach the salt taste.

No freshwater alternative was provided apart from being told we could buy bottled water.

The kids club is good value - but the food and beverage charges are exorbitant. $80 FJD for an extremely average buffet dinner. Not great.

Check in was slow. The rooms are tired. There was black mould in our bathroom ceiling, the Lino peeling up, and the sofa bed had all but collapsed.

No coffee. No water. Below average food I wouldn’t even serve to a dog. Limited beverage variation.

I will sadly, never return.

what can you say... one of the coolest places on the planet with stunning scenery beaches and seas. great diving and wonderful people. the boat from nadi is probably good but check out the local charter flights as we got a good deal and this is one of the only islands around there that has a runway. From the moment we landed we felt at home. Crab racing night is great fun with good local entertainment and bingo with mama in the afternoon around the pool. well worth the journey.

The island itself is one of the most scenic locations we have seen.

The resort on the other hand is very tired and dated. Lots of broken things in our room. Paths need a lot of work, broken tiles around the pool that are also very slippery, instead there is cheap rubber non slip mats used as a make shift path that are too hot to walk on. Lots of OHS issues from Australian standards (exposed wiring, nails ect). Pool seats are very dirty as were the baby seats in the eating area every time we went to eat.

Food at the buffet was just ok quality, lots of choice though, great dessert.

Free kayaks and snorkelling gear were good and a walk around the island is well worth it.

Again the location is amazing but the owners need to spend some money updating and maintaining the resort and better cleaning procedures are needed. For a resort that hosts survivor it doesn’t appear any of the revenue is put back into the resort or island which is a shame. Not really worth the $600aud a night when the quality is similar to a caravan park.

It was Sebastian's first time but I had been to Mana twice before in 2002 and 2003 so alot has changed. We spent 5 nights in November 2023. To compare it to accommodation in Denarau is unfair, our room 328 was clean but definitely needing refurbishment but the beautiful beach and ocean makes up for it as you will NOT get this in Denarau. It is a big resort and spread out over a large area, previous reviews have mentioned that money isnt getting put back into the place and its obvious but not important if you have realistic expectations for an outer island. The bed was lovely for us who prefer firmer mattresses. Our housemaids came daily and did a great job with a friendly attitude.
We were there for Cyclone Mal and this is where the Mana team were amazing! We felt safe and they provided meals due to the restaurants needing to close. Within 24hrs the place was tidied and it looked like there had never been any evidence of plant debris scattered about. Truly efficient given the preparation needed.
We had breakfast and dinner in our package - buffet breakfast and dinner was the standard stuff and adequate, a few theme nights for dinner apart from the interruption of Cyclone Mal. Lunch was additional costs - big servings so 1 meal can be shared between 2 adults.
We don't drink alcohol but the mocktails were yummy and we had no issues with unbottled cold drinking water that was readily available.
Factor in additional costs like the return boat trip and lunch.
We had taken some snacks over with us which helped cut costs like midnight cravings e.g. chocolate and potato chips.
We didn't find the adult only pool great, the main pools were clearer and you could have it pretty much to yourself at times.
Would we return to Mana, I personally wouldn't as there's definitely more resorts I'm Fiji to try! Would I recommend Mana; it would depend on the reasons people wanted to go and whether they were couples, solo, or families. Cost wise it is reasonable, shop around for deals, I booked via Booking.com .
Happy holidays!

We didn’t expect a ton from this inexpensive Fiji resort but we ended up having to just laugh at how terrible the service is here. This is a budget resort that is showing its age with worn and outdated decor, showers that switch from burning hot to freezing, lots of bugs in eating areas and bures, really awful food with only a few good items, and terrible training of staff with so many miscommunications to handle the most basic of requests. You cannot just wait for servers or staff to come to you here, you have to stand in front of them or wave them down and vocalize anything you need. They’ll occupy themselves doing other things and ignore you otherwise.

But if you can ignore all that, the staff was super friendly and trying their best even as they bungled and moved like snails to address the frequent issues among guests. The island itself is gorgeous with beautiful beaches on the swimmable south side and the snorkel friendly north side, and the stunning sunset beach you should take a buggy to go see. It really deserves much higher end accommodations as it’s so beautiful. The adults only pool area is a little sanctuary in the mostly kid-heavy resort. I recommend the spa, skip the buffets and Kura menu, and order off the Oceanview Cafe menu (lamb chops, beef tenderloin and butter chicken were our favorites). Breakfast buffet included is awesome with great staff, and make sure you go to the Meke performance as it was beautiful.

My husband and I just completed 5 days on Mana, it's our 3rd time back there. Sure the place is a little dated, but overall our experience was excellent!! We opted for an island bure, which was more than adequate, and it came with a lovely outdoor shower with great water pressure as well!! (Our room was serviced every day)I recommend you purchase the meal plan with your travel agent, it's great value for money, you can either choose from the buffet which changes every day or choose 3 courses from the A la carte menu, overall I found the food really good and the service was never a miss. staff were extremely friendly and went out of there way to help you or offer a friendly chat. The beaches on this island are stunning!! The Pool area is great as well!! The cocktails are delicious and definitely pack a punch!! We will definitely be returning!! Mana we love you!! ♥️♥️

Hi - went in December for a few nights. The resort is pretty run down even though they are charging really high prices for their rooms. Don’t think the mgt really cares about the general upkeep or tourists and a very different vibe to Denarau or hotels on the mainland. Have stayed in various accommodations throughout Fiji these past 10 yrs and this was the worst room. There has been no maintenance done in that resort and it’s VERY OUTDATED. The gym is unusable and standard room is probably one of the worst I’ve stayed in - it’s very much like a backpacker accommodation. Considering the price we paid for the accommodation, was shocked with the room standard. This is definitely not a 4 star. The beach is beautiful but water sports is extremely expensive. Most restaurants are closed so you have only the 1 option to dine at.
