Musket Cove Island Resort & Marina emerges as a mixed bag for travelers, with its picturesque beachfront location earning high marks for its beauty. While the resort's live music and diverse activities, including water sports, are highlights for guests, concerns about cleanliness and amenity upkeep have been noted. Despite the praise for spacious rooms and friendly staff, some visitors suggest that the resort's value may not align with its premium pricing, and the vibrant atmosphere occasionally crosses into overly loud territory for those seeking tranquility.

This resort is amazing, very relaxing and the staff are really friendly. The rooms were a good size for a family and very clean. The housekeepers left a daily supply of homemade shortbread and bottled water in our room each day which the kids loved. The food was really nice and fresh and of a very good standard. We can't wait to come back!

A frequent comment that I generally agree with when discussing Fijian resorts is, “nice place, but we will try somewhere else next time”. But Musket Cove is definitely a place we would return to.

Our group consisted of 8 adults and 3 children (1,2 and 4) and I booked 4 garden bures for our 1 week stay. We loved the location with a grassed area in front and still close to the beach. The bures were clean and had everything needed to enjoy the stay and plenty large enough to accommodate extra children. Rooms were cleaned and replenished every day.
Food options were plentiful and we enjoyed the BBQ option on a few of the nights at the Island Bar.
I would say the food offered was to a high standard.
The stand out for us was the live music that was performed all day throughout the resort and the warm and friendly staff. A call out for Lice at Dicks Place restaurant and Mosses on the boat excursions. Both went way beyond our expectations to make our stay that extra bit special.
The Island itself has a lot of activities, with several other resorts nearby, a golf course (9 hole) and a heap of day trips close by. Could have easily spent another week there.
At the end of the day, we where all disappointed to leave but we did so with many cherished memories and the hope that we will return one day soon.

We’re home from a great stay at Musket Cove, and we wish we could turn around and go right back. The perfect small island location in Fiji, with the friendliest, hardest-working staff we’ve ever encountered at a hotel or resort. From Cliff, Tamarie and Suala in guest services, to Ruth, Api, Druma and the whole team at the activities bure, to sweet Inny, who made us feel like the most important guests at Dick’s Place every time we arrived for a meal, everyone went above and beyond to welcome us and make us feel at home. Many of them learned our names on the first day and gave us a personal greeting every time they saw us on the property. We loved the spacious bures, with a housekeeping staff that attended to every detail of the room, and brought water, fresh flowers and delicious shortbread cookies every day.

And yes, it’s the tropics, so you’re going to get mosquitoes on the outside, geckos on the inside, and bullfrogs on your lawn…but you’re also going to get the incredible Fiji island life, with gorgeous beaches, warm water, amazing coral and sea life, and the best snorkeling we’ve ever done.

The only thing we wouldn’t recommend was Trader Cafe. We tried it three times, and all three times we experienced very slow, poor service and an indifferent attitude from the staff. We even had to leave without eating once because we were scheduled for an excursion and had been waiting over an hour for our food. They also serve paying customers from the Marina, so between that and the all-inclusive guests at the resort, maybe it’s just too much to handle. But that was the only disappointment on an otherwise wonderful experience! Vinaka Musket Cove!

My stay was nothing short of awful with so many things that went wrong. I put them in brief bullet points as there would be too much to read with how horrible this resort is. As someone who has traveled extensively across the Caribbean and stayed at much cheaper resorts, I can confidently say this was the worst experience I’ve ever had. From substandard amenities to shockingly poor service, this resort failed on every level. The biggest concerns were with the cleanliness of the resort and lack of amenities closely followed by the staff never assisting with anything or listening to anyone.

• Dirty shower towels on the floor were folded back up by the maids and not cleaned.
• 1GB low-speed lobby-only Wi-Fi per room/day.
• No clean drinking water; maids rarely restocked the waters.
• Safe was broken; fixed after 3 requests & 2 late-night visits to just change batteries.
• Constant towel issues: hours of waiting, incomplete deliveries with lacking number of towels.
• Leaking roof with moldy smell; only fix was a bucket and no offer to move rooms.
• Exposed ceiling wires with mouse traps—fire hazard.
• Moldy walls from roof leaks.
• Eggs were VERY undercooked daily, even when requested well-done.
• Poor service—requests ignored or mishandled.
• Late for everything; including the private transfer to the next resort and the bags weren’t picked up until numerous requests to do so.
• They didn’t answer the phone for our next resort so they thought we weren’t coming until later; wasting a day since our room wasn’t ready.
• Had to clear own plates at some meals; no water served some days and had to pour our own.
• Hidden Christmas dinner charge; many others were upset at checkout.
• Frequent complaints from others (no hot water, etc.).
• No TV.

Do yourself a favor—stay literally anywhere else. This resort is a disaster, and for the price, it’s outright insulting. To top it all off they offered us $40 back for our troubles after spending $9300+ for the whole stay—insulting!

Bula - please accept our apologies for your less that acceptable holiday experience with us. I have explained the towel situation to your travelling companion in their review. In regards to the other issues yu have raised; 1. We clearly advertise limited wifi in public areas. 2. All rooms are supplied with 1lt bottled water per day and filtered water is available at the Bistro. 3. Your roof leak was attended to when reported and fixed. We had significant weather and rain during your stay. 4. We generally receive very good reviews on our food & beverage teams so we apologise this did not meet your expectations. 5. We advertise our Christmas Buffet surcharge across all booking channels and via our Trade Partners. 6. We have never had tv available in the rooms, however most have a screen and dvd player with a library of dvd's available at the Boutique. 7. You did receive a $300 credit for the towel supply issue and the residual value after your incidentals spend was $40 which was refunded. Your review has been discussed with the Management Team as we constantly strive to improve and deliver exceptional customer service. - Vinaka

The resort, the facilities, the food and the staff are all great so why the bad review? The website promises peace and tranquillity. We booked a beach bure and were looking forward to a week of chill out and walks around the island. We had heard the restaurant at Lomani was great and we were keen to try that. HOWEVER Plantation resort had been privately booked for something the Australians call "schoolies week" for 700 17-18 years olds. This apparently goes for 3-4 weeks from the end of November with different groups rotating in and out. The road was blocked by security guards so no island walks. BUT that was not the ghastly thing. Every night from 8pm to around 2am, with a different DJ each night, the music was full on, really loud with massive base. The beach bures are the most exposed to the noise. We were sitting on our bure porch and could feel the vibrations. So for seven nights we had really disrupted sleep. I felt worse at the end of the week than the beginning. We complained at reception and they said there's nothing they can do. ACTUALLY Musket Cove owners what you could have done is warned us that the noise would be distressing and continuous. You could have warned us that we couldn't access the rest of the island. When we complained you could have tried some way of offering compensation or a change to a quieter location. Anything other than just the shrug. We felt totally ripped off!

Bula - thanks for taking the time to write a review and we are sorry that the music from the Resort adjacent had such an effect on your stay. We do monitor the sound levels due the event and notify Plantation Resort if we believe the impact is detrimental for our Guests. during this year's festival, we have had no other complaints up until now. Our Front Office team are advising guests at check-in regarding the event and we can offer to move guests to rooms further away if we have available space. We apologies if this offer was not made to you.

What a wonderful resort - from the amazing location on a beautiful sandy beach surrounded by palm trees, to the clear and warm ocean, the daily snorkelling trips to the sand bank in the middle of the ocean to see the most beautiful coral and fish. The staff were so friendly - it was authentic and not totally posh or polished which we loved. The breakfast buffet was great - the lunch disappointing due to lack of choice and dinner was great as the them changed every day. The resort was full of music and the entertainment just perfect.
If you are looking for a totally upmarket perfect resort this is not for you - Lomani is that - but if you are looking for a premium, stylish, fun and luxurious resort this is perfect.
i forgot to mention the lovely pool, kayaks and paddle boards....and the beach front bure was perfect (noting that one day we walked past the lagoon rooms and the stagnant water after the rain was quite smelly so were were glad not to have booked one of these rooms)

We recently stayed at Musket Cove Island Resort for 5 days, booking the Raintree Room. Here's our experience:

The room itself was spacious, which we appreciated, and it was okay for the price we paid. However, the cleaning standards left much to be desired, especially in the bathroom. The shower wasn't cleaned at all during our stay, which was disappointing. Additionally, the towels provided had a noticeable smell and were somewhat tattered, which detracted from the overall experience.

Another issue we encountered was dead frogs along the pathway to our room, which were not removed throughout our stay. This was unpleasant and gave the impression that the resort's maintenance and cleanliness could use improvement.

On a positive note, the staff was exceptional—friendly, accommodating, and always eager to help, which made our stay more pleasant. The food was another highlight, offering a great variety and delicious flavors throughout our visit.

We also loved that the resort offered many activities for all ages, from water sports and snorkeling to relaxing beach spots and cultural experiences. This made it a fun destination for both families and couples looking to enjoy the island’s charm.

One major downside was the lack of WiFi in the rooms, which we found inconvenient. In today’s connected world, this is a big minus for travelers who rely on internet access for planning or staying in touch.

Overall, while the staff, food, and variety of activities were excellent, the cleanliness issues, maintenance concerns, and lack of WiFi significantly affected our experience. There's potential for improvement, and we hope these areas are addressed in the future.

We went here for our honeymoon and it was awesome. We got upgraded to a garden villa room was really spacious and the addition of the small pool was nice for cooling off. This resort literally provides everything. Bug spray in the rooms, heaps of drinking water and shortbread everyday along with instructions on how to get more. Trader cafe served nice food for breakfast and lunch but we stuck to the buffet for dinner. The dinner buffet varied each night and a couple of nights were outstanding food. Every meal from breakfast to dinner had awesome live music playing.
For activities we did: sand bank snorkelling, paddle boarding, hobie cats (the staff gave me a sailing lesson for free) which were all included and we paid for a massage, the dolphin tour and cloud 9 which were good fun. The thing that really set this place apart was the amount of awesome friendly staff, there were literally staff everywhere and nothing was a problem for them. The other guests we talked with all thought the place was amazing with one guy saying I want to recommend this place but I want to come back next year so I don't want to let the secret out !!!! Thanks for the great stay.

Tbh there is not much to do at this hotel in the evening, most people had dinner and then went I presume to bed. TV in room was for Videos only but couldnt see any videos to use.
Wifi can only be used in Reception or Dicks restaurant/traders cafe.
The rooms need a refurbish, quite tatty and dont really look like a 4 star. Towels very thin and fraying and the beach towels couldn't be changed, we were never made aware where to get fresh. make sure you spray yourself and the room thoroughly as there are little black midges everywhere. They do supply thank goodness as mine wasnt strong enough.
2 pools, one was a quiet one which was welcomed.
Drinks OK and food was good in both restaurants. Good choice and Traders food was large portions.
Staff were nice.

Would I go back? NO

This was my second time in Musket Cove Island, Resort & Marina and I didn't think it would be better than the first time had been but it was!! The moment we arrived to the last second in the resort/on the island it was just perfect. The staff welcomed us as the ferry arrived to the island and everybody made sure we would have the best time there. As a returning guest I was given a fruit platter from the staff, it was so thoughtful of them! Our accomodation was a garden bure with an extra outside shower located on the side of the building. It had a large bedroom with a king size bed , a living room area with two sofas that could be comfortable used as single beds and a large bathroom with separete toilet. We also had a cute kitchenette with a small fridge, a tea kettle and a sink. The body wash, the shampoo and conditioner provided were all Pure Fiji products which I love. I gladly recognised that they had opted for environmental friendly dispensers instead of using individually packed toiletries. The food was amazing, it was plenty option to choose from. The activities we could sign up for were amazing, both on the island and the excursion ones. Honestly, all I can wish for now to go back there as soon as possible. Hopefully this time I won't need to wait another 6 years to enjoy the hospitality and the friendliness of the staff at Musket Cove. Thanks Mere, Mary, Saula, Emily and everyone who contributed to our perfect vacation.
