Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is amazing. We came here for our honeymoon and it exceeded our expectations. The service is awesome but not intrusive. The food is excellent. We will definitely return in the future. It is sufficiently isolated but we enjoyed meeting people from around the world. It’s a great place to escape when we wanted to. We stayed for 12 nights and every day was amazing.

We just returned from this resort and I had to come and report how much we loved it. I had read some negtive reviews about the food so had been concerned but honestly we had no qualms. The buffet food was great - a different choice everynight. I also have coeliac so needed gluten free - I managed just fine - just had to ask the wait staff a lot of questions! The other onsite restaurants were lovely too. The staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. They love kids and they love the visitors. They sing all the time during meals with theur guitars The pools there were great. It was fun to go to a different one everyday. The room we had was a poolside view - nothing really fancy but nice enough and very cool, dark at night for kids So much to do! So many activities - free and paid ones. Some tips: -take lots of sunscreen - the UV was so strong when we were there and we ended up having to purchase rashies from the onsite shops -take reef shoes, esp for the kids as there are a few sharp areas, especially walking out to the inflatable on the water - there is hairbraiding on site but it is expensive. Full head long hair can be up to $200 fijian dollars -take a walk to musket cove resort next door and find the beach bar near the dock. -It is definately a kid friendly/family resort. If you're after a romantic holiday with no kids then maybe not this one!! We would definately go back there again!

We had a large group of 21 and we had a fantastic time. Pre-booked dinner before we went and it was the best thing we did. Travola was our favourite and we went there several times. The pizza shack was great for an easy lunch or dinner aswell. Water activities were free and fun and the snorkelling trip for $35 Fijian was well worth it. Garden Terrace rooms were spacious and modern although i think there are different areas of Garden Terraces area and some nicer than others. Loved the Bob Marley Cocktails.

We absolutely loved our stay at Plantation Island. The staff were very welcoming and the facilities were very family friendly. There was a great variety of food and activities. My favourite part was the crystal clear waters. For my children it was the water park, though it was a bit far out and open at limited times. My only negatives would be that things do tend to run on island time and our shower had terrible pressure. Overall it was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to return one day!

A family holiday like no other, the staff at plantation island are the most welcoming and friendly, coupled with the amenities on offer I doubt anyone could have a bad time here. The spectacular scenery leaves us breathless with every visit. It’s close proximity to the mainland makes it easy to escape to, but far enough away to relish the solitude

Our 3 generations of family which included 5 children, 22 months to 9 years old spent a week in this slice of paradise. Everything about Plantation Island was perfect. The Fijian staff are so welcoming and helpful, the bures are cool and spacious, clean and comfortable. The pools, many water toys, the golden sand and crystal clear water were fantastic. The meal choices were extensive and tasty, the kids club had activities for all ages and were much appreciated by the parents so they could have a break. All meals for kids and kids club activites free. The very best thing was the wonderful snorkeling, some just off the beach where our nearly 7 year old could enjoy tropical fish of many varieties. We also did several reef trips for around $20-$40 depending on the length of tour where a boat took us offshore a little way to see new coral growing and even more extensive varieties of fish. WE would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone with children of any age

Hope Managment/owners Reed this review. Just wanted to say We came from Hawaii and we used to slow service and way of life. However out of 5 resorts we stayed at Fiji, Plantation island was the winner of disorganization and people late with everything. Positive: We had wedding there and our wedding planner Anusha was very nice, she had most what agreed on arranged and ceremony was beautiful. Also Nirtika, whom I emailed back and forth with was very responsive and made me feel comfortable to choose PI for our wedding resort. We loved kids club and activities available for kids. Warning. Negative: Food was not good. Tavora and buffet was very plain, but what was worth than that food is service. Took 20 min to get water couple of times, 40 min to get simple toast (there were only 2 tables in restaurant at the moment) and waiters would just stand there and chat with each other… I just wish I did not eat there at all, to avoid negative feeling and review. Black Coral restaurant was the only tasty one, but you must have reservations way ahead of time or it will be booked. Reception people most disorganized I ever seen, they smile , say yes, but don’t get your request done. Took two days going there (they had none) and calling to get an umbrella in rainy day, at the end my husband had to walk there and getting one. Our luggage never got delivered to our departing transfer boat, my husband had to rush last minute to get it. When we booked nanny services, one day they forgot to send nanny and second day which we canceled after that they sent 2. Also mommies be aware, nanny can be anyone who works at resort, they don’t have professional assigned personnel. I had 6 month baby and 2.5 yo and they send gardener male one day and another day it was male waiter, they were accompanied by female each time and only that made me feel semi comfortable to have my kids watched. I would consider visiting again, if you can improve your food department and management organization of the place. New beds and Blankets would make it better experience. I don’t think it was worth spending there USD $6000 in 6 days.

STOP AND READ ME! All the things you need to know. This place absolutely exceeded my expectations! After reading many negative reviews on here I question if these people were actually referring to plantation island as it is NOT anything like the reviews say prior to me. Actually I’d like to say those negative reviewers didn’t deserve to be on this island. TOP TIPS! Your on island time! Slow the hell down! Chill out! Relax! Take insect repellent, pack snacks (especially for kids) and water. The minute you land, you are welcomed by the most humble, beautiful, loving human beings on this earth. You are seated, bags are loaded and taken to your rooms, humour from the team to announce resort rules, tips, advice about what is on the island, handed a very helpful booklet with a full time table of so many things to do. When you arrive to your rooms they are so cool, CLEAN and welcoming so that sweat you have in all your crevices is immediately dried up from the air con in your room, you unpack then head out to explore the resort. First up for us was Copra the main hub where it all happens! Lunch was beautiful we had 4 adults 2 children 9, 4 d and one 7 month old on our trip! All our meals were amazing from the buffet breakfast, lunch menu through to buffet theme dinner nights! The staff OMG!! Amazing truly the most beautiful people you will meet on holiday. It’s a tropical island! Yes there are flies yes there are mosquitoes! Deal with it lather yourself in insect repellent. None of this was a problem for our family as we shower, wear insect repellent and we don’t waste food we eat it immediately. Black Coral again another amazing restaurant! Food was outstanding we only had one meal here as our budget allowed one night for fancy pricey worth every cent dinning. The eye fillet was to die for! Prawns! Cocktails just WOW! Service bang on. Bula Bikes! A must for travelling around especially if you aren’t right next to the main hub. Good to jump on throw the kids in the seat and bike on down for brekkie etc. Kids Club! WOW! Just wow! The activities, playgrounds inside and outside, movie nights under the stars and their own cinema, the buffer dinner, the 1000s of activities, the staff again just 100 out of 10. Babysitting! Mama away from mama! That’s how I can explain it “home away from home” my 7 month old id come back each night she was fast asleep and didn’t wake till the morning slept right through the night. Pools - all are great to cool off in. So many to visit 4 in total. Heaps to do water sports, snorkelling, tours, dash over to Lomani for adults only time! Honestly the activities are endless! Rooms are serviced every second day! This is great you certainly don’t need daily cleans. Our lady who serviced our rooms was the same person for our 9 day stay absolutely gorgeous wahine. Makarina went as far as changing my babies nappy when I had to dash off to get my 9 year old from the pool. You just can’t find that kind of love and nurture. The reason why plantation island is so successful is because of the amazing staff they make this place what it is, who it is and why you want to return over and over again! To those that come here be kind, be loving, be patient. The staff are beautiful! I want to thank you all so much for blessing us with the best trip we will remember for ever! The most beautiful whānau Villi (the most tallest person I’ve ever met! So sweet and kind) Nessi (mama away from mama! Best babysitter and a forever member of our whanau), Tia (the heart of reception, smiles, helpful and warm), Izzy (medicine tour, the main activities man, best DJ aroha nui you made our babies day taking them out on the waka) Naomi (Copra visits seeing your smiley face), Kini (Leo season thanks for making mums birthday so special on your own special day) Makarina (seeing you everyday in our area servicing rooms was so special being able to chat to you, share our babies with you) special mention to you all. You go above and beyond to make a whānau holiday so great! Amy, Peyton and Lola

Group of 9 (6 adults, 3 kids aged 11,13,14) stayed at PIR for 7 nights. We had a wonderful time! Stayed in the Garden Studio Bure and it was spacious, clean and comfortable. Food options were great - different buffet every night, plus the option of the two ala carte restaurants, plus casual dining (pizza etc). Snorklelling off the beach was good, but spectacular if you do the snorkelling tours or island hop (Honeymoon Island was the best!). Kids loved the beach, water park, bula bikes, 4 pools, ski biscuits, paddle boards, kayaks... etc etc. We also enjoyed diving, fishing, Shell Village tour and Cloud 9. Everything was easy to book (book a few days in advance and you're set!). A large and busy resort, but perfect for families looking for things to do, and to make friends, as well as plenty of scope for relaxation time (lots of pools and long beachfront to find your quiet place!).

We arrived at the resort together with our bags from Mana Island. They refused to let us take our bags to the check-in area. When check-in time rolled around the bags were missing. After a lot of calls and requests from us searching for our bags, they finally told us they had accidentally loaded the bags onto a boat to the Port in Denarau. In the meantime our son started to run a fever and needed special medication in the bag. We let them know that the fever meant we needed the bags asap but the manager decided they wouldn’t charter a seperate boat and that we would need to wait until 7pm for the last ferry. No attempt to rectify the situation promptly despite the fact a sick child was involved. The fact we also had lost an entire day chasing our luggage and couldn’t properly use the resort because we didn’t have the things we need was also ignored. No attempt to compensate us. A completely incompetent approach from end to end.
