Over the last 5 years, I have stayed at the Eastern Heritage many times (over 10). I have always been welcomed by the two gentlemen who work there, Yen and Johnny are two locals who are overflowing with interesting and useful facts about visiting Melaka. Just ask! The guesthouse is an old chinese mansion and features wonderful intricate aesthetic and...

Good points: - cheap - clean room (we stayed in a double) - friendly and helpful host, he provides you with a useful map. - it's a beautiful house with antique furnishings and general decor. Bad points: - bathroom is old and very basic but clean. - we had to provide our own toilet roll. - internet was turned off...

It's a a nice antique house with high roofs and wooden floors, with friendly staff, free wi fi and a very good price. We stayed 1 week in a spacious room with window, light, fresh air and quite. Lots of food courts and restaurants around and at walking distance to the main tourist atractions of the city :)

Tho good points are : the location is ok, and the price for the dorm. is cheap. Everything else is poor. Everywhere its dirty: the floor, the steps, the bathroom, the dorm. In side the dorm is a BAT flying at nighttime ! The staff is unfriendly and not helpful. There is a " dipping pool "- well, nice, but...

Eastern Heritage is one of those special places rare to find anymore in Malaysia. An old-school traveler guesthouse full of charm and character. The room number 8 (last one in the corridor, next to the shower) with private terrace is one of the best places we have been in Asia, just perfect for long stays. The house is about 100...

Stayed there for a night in a double room. The place was dusty and run down. Theres two old guys who run the place, one is nice but the other seems grumpy and rude all the time and smokes all the time inside. The bathrooms are horrible and the shower is just a pipe with water coming out from the...

We stayed for 1 night and it was a pretty good experience. The cheapest option available (paid around 12 euro for a triple room on weekend - the best rate in Melaka) and well worth the price. The rooms are quite basic but you don't really come to Melaka to sit in the room so it shouldn't be an issue....

For 22 years I come irregularly to EH and every time I refresh my sweet memories and add new ones. On my earlier, long travels through Asia and Australia guesthouse Eastern Heritage was a great place to recover and most of the times I stayed much longer than I initially intended. The last time I stayed in Malacca was in...

Strict midnight curfew, not ideal for backpackers! The Swedish lady working there was lovely the other men (local I think) where strange and seemed kind of angry all the time! There was a bat flying around the dorm room I was in, but it is the cheapest place in Melaka so meh! No A.C. in rooms, toilets need some updating...

“Take number 8 if you are with your couple and ask for an extra table for the terrace and some tea on the morning. If you are travelling solo and on a budget, dorm is the cheapest in town, but singles are also good value.”
